I reckon the URC might have commissioned this piece. Were going to ask Henry Pollock to put his name to it but thought that might have been too obvious. #EngIrl

There's lots of talk about the growth of Cambridge. But what materials will the buidings be made of?
This @camglamresearch.bsky.social roundtable is focusing on the potential of local stone and the university's collections of natural materials.

Today, weβre going back to the 70s to bring you one of the earliest #AHFsupported projects in Scotland!
Saved from demolition, this 18th-century tenement was later purchased by Cockburn Conservation Trust, restored to its former glory & sold as flats. #AHF50

I do love a ghost gable like this found near Ancoats in Manchester - but it's rarer still to find the intangible signs of the puff of smoke from the chimney...
The corners will continue until the football improves. #ArsenalChelsea
The Robin Hood Gardens facade and flat display are very clever. Part of the V&A's commitment to salvaging parts of demolished historic buildings.
V&A East Storehouse. Very cool and very popular.
As the analysis starts of the Gorton and Denton result, I wanted to flag some aspects that my experience yesterday suggests are being over or under-played
(Caveats - I went to Longsight, Gorton and Denton town centres and spoke to as many people as I could, but it was mostly during the working day)
Wintercomfort now supporting 800 people a year; nearly double the number four years ago. So these kinds of figures not a surprise. www.theguardian.com/society/2026...
Am running the Cambridge Half Marathon on 8th March in aid of Wintercomfort and their vital work supporting homeless people in and around Cambridge. All donations, big and small, very welcome ππ
I think I am constrained by how long blog posts should be....
The Great Chamber, Charterhouse. Where Elizabeth I met her first Privy Council.
But some churches and places of worship do mixed use really well π- something we need more of!
In Scotland, the Church of Scotland is selling as many churches as it can as part of cost saving measures - with many communities frantically trying to raise cash for buy outs. That is the real problem: lack of money & dwindling congregations www.strathspey-herald.co.uk/news/220-yea....
The Church Commissioners already prevent churches from being converted to mosques & other places of worship e.g. www.churchtimes.co.uk/articles/202... > arguably you could save more churches by allowing some to convert to other religious use - but suspect that's not the conversation we will have!
Cass McCombs at Union Chapel last night was pure magic. One of those gigs that builds and builds. Also, the perfect venue - that roof! A reminder of an @archhfund.org.uk grant from the early 2000s; so good to see going so strong.

Same view of Brushfield Street in Spitalfields, one from 1972 and one taken yesterday. I can feel nostalgia for the house prices; but the modern version looks a bit of an improvement to me.
We were involved @archhfund.org.uk in the early stages of the new OnSide in Grimsby, which reused the former West Haven Maltings in the town. Opened last week and looks fantastic www.bbc.co.uk/news/article....
"In Preston, we wanted the Vault to feel like a new civic presence, prominent, something that young people identify with." > Great stuff π cc @nicktemple.bsky.social
Excellent thread by @acjsissons.bsky.social. The point about each place needing an approach that builds on its unique assets is π―. Places like Redruth offer examples of how towns like Horden can develop more positive futures ahfund.org.uk/what-we-do/i....

This is fine as a snapshot of how things are in the place, but...what do we do?
Whatever it is will almost certainly need spending not tax cuts.

Ripon Pancake Race. The Paris-Roubaix of pancake racing.
This is really excellent. Lots to think about for us helping communities save third spaces like pubs.
Otherworldly conditions up in Yorkshire. Apparently it used to be like this every now and again.
I really hope the Glass Centre doesn't close. It's a great thing and has been one of the drivers of Sunderland's regeneration. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...
The Palais Rameau was built as a greenhouse in Lille in 1878
Since then, itβs been a concert hall, a festival hall, a court and even housing for prisoners of war.
Itβs recently been adapted into an Engineering School by Atelier 9.81, who I think have done a magnificent job!
I think that is the sound of it being heeded. www.theguardian.com/sport/2026/f...
