Our work on NPC biogenesis is now out! Wanlu Zhang investigated the role of FG-Nups in NPC reassembly, pore dilation, and the nuclear envelope remodelling using acute depletions, correlative EM, and MINFLUX imaging πŸ’«.
Thanks, Wanlu and all the collaborators!

Our new non-denaturing nanoscale 3D DNA tracing technology provides single-cell (and sister-chromatid specific!) readout of chromatin structure with 10kb genomic resolution - Check it out!

This seems like a really important paper comparing chromosome tracing methods, demonstrating that classical denaturing DNA-FISH and chromosome tracing leads to substantial distortion of 3D genome structure, likely due to the high-temperatures involved (70-90C):

How chromosomes shape up for cell division | EMBL EMBL scientists have shown how overlapping loops of DNA stack upon each other in dividing cells to give rise to rod-shaped chromosomes

Did you know that DNA must form overlapping loops to give rise to the well-known X-shape of chromosomes? 🧬πŸ§ͺ

New research from EMBL's Ellenberg Group provides new insights into the process of chromosome formation.

We are #hiring!

We have two open postdoc/research scientist positions to join our #ERC funded project MITOFOLD to resolve the organization of mitotic chromosomes!

1) experimental biologist shorturl.at/LjGEM
2) data scientist shorturl.at/nDdhQ
Please share! πŸ™Œ

We look forward to your application! 🀩

Congratulations to @andibrunner.bsky.social
and the team, and many thanks to the lab of Jan-Michael Peters for support!

We found that the interphase and mitotic chromatin loop organization have more in common than previously thought:

In both stages big loops are built first, small ones second

My first own project is published:

Despite major differences in chromosome shape during #interphase and #mitosis, the underlying #loop-extruder based organization is highly similar

A new data resource and new insights into human chromatin biology! 🧬πŸ₯³
