i’ve been working so hard to make the perfect cup for a local restaurant. here is my first perfect cup after 20 cups 🥹 it’s a beautiful dusty green porcelain clay body 💕
i committed to making one mix per year for my partner since music is his great true love
wanted to share my favorite find from the last mix i made (it was his top pick, too!) — it’s fucking enthralling

my favorite media links that discuss this discovery from different points of view. i really recommend the full radiolab episode, i could only find the cut

this changed the way i look at the remainder of my life. every future year that i get to live is supplementary from nature’s perspective. obv i didn’t have anything to do w/advancements that gave humanity these extra decades, but i want to contribute something positive for nature and for us.

at the time, i had looked up how long 1 billion heartbeats would be for a human, it’s ~32 years.
we live much, much longer now due to the advancement of science and technology. humans started to diverge from nature’s equation in the last few centuries..
something super cool i learned last year: the quarter power scaling rule, this math equation that relates heartbeats and mass; it determines that all mammals live for ~1 billion heartbeats, and accurately predicts lifespan by mass. humans are an outlier to this by ~2-3x..
still remember the video you showed me with that beautiful moment where he figures everything out!!!
