as it turns out, wiping 14% of the world's energy supply (7%pt of global oil production and 7%pt of the world's natural gas) out by shutting hormuz has negative consequences

"Wesley Streeting, the long-ago deposed former Health Secretary, is on the list of witnesses expected to be called but is unlikely to make an appearance. He has still not been located after he disappeared with Peter Mandelson when he escaped prison disguised as a hotdog in 2032."

Now that they're trying to pretend their war is not a war, they've gone back to calling it the Defense Department.

Anthropic says the Pentagon has declared it a national security risk After months of negotiations, the Defense Department cut off business with the leading AI company. Anthropic said it sees β€œno choice but to challenge it in court."

β€œAnthropic CEO Dario Amodei had wanted stronger guarantees the Pentagon would not use its AI technology for deadly autonomous weapons or mass domestic surveillance.” The DOD has
now designated Anthropic a β€œthreat to national security” & banned it from doing business w/ the military. 3/5/26 … 1/

I lack the words to capture it, but ... it's just endlessly remarkable to me that so many people in our society have chosen trans kis -- TRANS KIDS, the smallest, least significant, most vulnerable demographic slice you could possibly pick -- as a repository for all their fears & insecurities.

Hotchkiss, the Connecticut Prep School, Platner attended, is for rich kids, and always been for rich kids. I had some friends who attended the local prep school near where I grew up (Berkshire School). I would not consider Hotchkiss to be the type of New England Private school Grim describes.

It's hilarious that "working class" now applies exclusively to the racist failsons of regional car dealership owners but every unemployed trans person is an "elite".

The only diplomatic off-ramp I see now is Iran offering Trump a casino concession in downtown Teheran.

we are trapped in the delusional death throes of a man of whom it can be argued that being a pedophile and rapist are not actually his worst qualities

it's funny you can see how much the New Deal fixed macroeconomic stability within the United States, and the elite hated FDR for it

These people genuinely think they are going to reform capitalism and then a socialist gets in office and they are like wait I can’t do anything at all about the cops what kinda snail pace do you expect to reform capitalism to socialism at. We are going to die bro

Make it stick.

A DOJ source says FBI agents found the woman who accused Trump of sexually assaulting her as a child to be credible:

"They would not have interviewed her four times if they thought she was lying."

"Illuminating" is definitely a word for it. These tech bros are way, way, way, too used to people genuflecting to every brain fart they have that they can't handle reality or even mild criticism. No one owes you "positive" coverage, weirdo's. Anyway, he thinks/thought "raw water" is good.

It’s amazing that Jack Dorsey can do an entire interview and not say a single fucking thing

Never forget that Dorsey's favorite character, cluelessly, is The Wizard of Ozβ€”who is a con man and fraud.

Anyone who wants to write me a $13 million, equity-free check to create an open protocol and then talk a little shit or ghost me is free to do so as many times as they deem necessary.

Let’s talk about Graham Platner’s Big Lie, finally. In 2009, at the height of the Gulf War, the Marines barred him from active duty. Platner claims it was his forearm tattoos. But his one forbidden tattoo was the Nazi symbol on his chest. He knew - and he left the Marines rather than give it up. 1/

zero percent chance that Susan Collins doesn't immediately drop all of this the second the general election starts if this guy wins the primary - the DoD is 100% sitting on the file on this guy and will send it to her the second he wins the nomination

These are the 4 things AI can do well:

β€’Clean up your email inbox (badly)
β€’Give my shittiest neighbor (Alan) something to talk about at a party
β€’Tell a 12 yr old to kill himself
β€’Incinerate a school at 10:16 AM on a Tuesday

You can see why we need to base our economy around it

Claude Code wiped our production database with a Terraform command.
It took down the DataTalksClub course platform and 2.5 years of submissions: homework, projects, and leaderboards.
Automated snapshots were gone too.
In the newsletter, I wrote the full timeline + what I changed so this doesn't happen again.
If you use Terraform (or let agents touch infra), this is a good story for you to read.
