I have updated my reset article acknowledging the signing of the "EU-UK Competition Cooperation agreement". Does it fit with Reevesβs instruction to the CMA & others to prioritise growth over safety; the Guardian makes clear that HMGβs eyes are on being included in the coming βMade in Europeβ law.
Might be time to redo this article, but I am unsure how much difference there would be in the rankings. UK is 10th and we produce about 1% of the worlds chips NB dated 2023

Labourhub on the governance crisis in the Labour Party by Frank Hanson, who calls for "... our last chance to democratise & revitalise the Party .... Along with a political programme, we need a set of demands around restoring Party democracy at all levels. "

Paul Holden, author of "The Fraud", is interviewed on the blog site, Labour Hub. I have not read it yet, but it maybe essential reading for those that want British Politics to have a strong decent social democratic voice.

Like too many, I started a new version of BG3 last night. This time, on Explorer mode. Let's hope I finish this time and don't get stuck. Last night was fun, I enjoyed the easier fights.
Starmer's profound error was to campaign on a left ticket and then to govern on a far-right ticket.
There is no sign of him reversing that error.
The departure of McSweeney will therefore have little impact on Labour's far-right policy stance on immigration, fiscal rules & ' there is no money'.

Standing with workers is not a crime.
Shame on @bhamcitycouncil.bsky.social.

McSweeney's resigned 'from government'; this is an opportunity for Labour to rediscover its heart, but replacing just one person is not enough. I mirror Clive Lewis's comments from his facebook post.

Pressure's mounting, Adam Bienkov on why and Politico on how. But McSweeny and maybe Starmer need to go.

euractiv reports that the EU is looking to boost its ship building capability led by 'dual use' vessels. Time for the UK to boost its 'reset' programme. Brexit can't be fixed.

Last weekend, I visited the DHM's exhibition "The Roads not taken", a series of "What-ifs" in German History. It made me think a lot; I wrote up my thoughts, but it closes on 22.3.2026. Very recommended.
Farage has been touring Davos all week pledging to βfight the globalistsβ - all funded by a $10 billion trust run on behalf of an Iranian billionaire.

The USA is planning to pay $706bn to buy Greenland.
That is more than the cost of nationalising healthcare in the USA which would cost $300-400bn.
But you can't have that, killing you is too profitable.
I flew through Madrid Barajas airport last week. Despite the scare stories, there were no queues for the fingerprint scanners, nor for passport control. On the way home, there were 3 people in front of me for passport control.
"New polling suggests that if another Brexit referendum were to take place, a majority of voters would opt for rejoining the European Union. Younger voters are particularly keen on reversing Brexit, with 86% of 18 to 24 year olds expressing they would vote to rejoin the EU."

Hard to see how more wrong the geopolitical case for Brexit could have turned out

This is not an advance although he may change his mind; he often does, usually after some poor front bencher has just defended the policy. Itβs all very, βThe thick of itβ.
Starmer in a BBC interview, said he wanted closer alignment with the #EU & its #singlemarket but no to freedom of movement & the customs union. This is just new language for the current policy to try & stop the momentum towards the customs union.
