I just wish production/actors were given more time & paid more for technically more difficult work. My generation, the one before mine, & the one currently working all grew up watching anime & know how great it is. I think it’s very telling how much money anime makes, & yet how little we see of it.

Nah, you’re good. I just wanted to add my two cents. I think (not you) the majority of fans feel like they’re entitled to have things fast. And when they don’t they are mad & if they do will complain about the quality. Anime dubbing is in a very weird place right now and I feel it isn’t sustainable

Also, unfortunately most fans expect simuldubs and it’s hard to put that genie back in the bottle. Overall, dubs across the board are much better & some are extraordinary. But with few exceptions it’s rarer to see truly extraordinary writing and performance as often because of tight turn arounds.

Then on top of that most anime, not all, are non-union so there’s no recourse in getting more pay because we don’t have union standards. So folks in prod. have to fight for that, & most of the time it’s ignored. Most folks in anime would love if all anime was Union but it’s been difficult to achieve

And the studios doing production your Crunchyrolls & BangZooms of the world expect you to get each script done in less than a week & at the same time not give you all the materials you need to do that. Then when it eats over the allotted time, they can’t pay you extra b/c it’s not in the budget.

The issue here is the turn around for streamers in the US. A lot of the times it’s this, the release date is set/announced for both US and Japan. The client Netflix or whoever are like cool, here’s the materials, get this all adapted, directed, & recorded in a month.

As someone who has worked as an actor and writer and director in the Anime industry, please know that simuldubs and the lack of compensation for the labor of time/energy are actively hurting us. Working untenable hours and holidays is causing numerous health issues, too. LET’S DEMAND BETTER!!!

Friendly discussion, even if you disagree can still be fulfilling. In my experience I've found it far more effective to actually engage & understand why someone does/doesn't like something rather than going after them & their enjoyment. Ad hominem attacks just seem the norm now. 3/3

This lovely human is a joy. Both as a dear friend of 11 years (can you believe it?!) and as a writer, director, and actor. Also, you need to have @jalenkcassell.bsky.social in season 3. They’d make a killer villain or love interest, or a million other things. They’ve got range.

When @jumpleads.zone season 2 starts dropping, I really hope people have something to say about @wdm1262.bsky.social's performance, because it's just perfect. We have an amazing cast this season, and he just quietly steps in and brings a phenomenal (if brief!) performance. He's really so, so good.
