The UCP has been in power for 51 of the last 55 years but according to Danielle Smith it's the family who arrived six months ago that is wrecking the province.

Just wrote this to a very young journo I've been working with, he is learning to pitch:
So like... picture the editor as a person whose train is leaving the station in two minutes and you are standing with them on the platform trying to explain something.
#MWE Day 4
Various Artists - The Best of Sacred Steel
Found myself on the Arhoolie Foundation’s Sacred Steel archives, about the House of God in Florida and their steel guitar worship tradition. This album why I follow ideas to odd places - there could be something amazing at the end of it
#MWE day 3
Omar Sosa & Seckou Keita - Transparent Water
A generally quiet and spare album of traditional African instruments and Sosa’s jazz piano combined into new shapes. Often minimalist and a bit experimental, always gorgeous. Another great find.
Keep in mind, as #MWE coincides with Black History Month, please be sure to include albums by Black artists in your picks. That has always been one of the exercise's core tenets, and I promise you will find some new favorites in doing so.
#MWE Day 2
Omar Sosa - SENDAS
An icon of world music that I am very under-familiar with. The core of this album is a series of quiet & beautiful improvised piano pieces, pulling in minimalist percussion that expands the sound. Love this.
#MWE 2026 - Day 1
Clipping - Dead Channel Sky (2025)
Billed as “Experimental Hip Hop” this leans on 90s UK Drum & Bass with lots of found sounds thrown in and ultra rapid rapping which is both impressive and tiresome. So much perfect enunciation, so little point to it all.
I’m not asking you to have concern, love, or time for Melania Trump. But thinking it’s fine to call a woman a whore if you don’t like her is just swallowing misogyny whole
I don’t trust anyone who finds ways to justify stuff like slut-shaming. You either have principles or you don’t.
It’s backwards! The front is slightly less janky
Thank you so much!
Amazing to learn that Isaac Chotiner can apparently just come for you in your replies. Like suddenly realizing you're swimming in open ocean
Tomorrow! Free tickets still available. Will be an interesting evening. #yyc
Our flâneur president is exploring the psychogeography of the White House in the context of its urban environment but go off
Both are true. Cars are terrible, cyclists are insufferable. We all know this.
This calls for a strongly worded cease-and-desist letter
He wasn’t in the US illegally. He had entered the immigration system and was waiting for a hearing. The allegations of domestic abuse are sad, but they aren’t “cases”. Words have meanings.
Do you think finding out that Trump got bad grades in college is the thing that will make supporters of the coup change their mind? I have my doubts
Lot of empty seats and empty space in that room. If there hadn’t been so many protestors the turnout would have been a bit embarrassing for her.
Commenting on the body of an abhorrent person is still commenting on a person’s body and is still a gross, creepy thing to do.

The Oscars 1) don’t have a best musical category and, 2) haven’t happened yet this year.
remember that JK Rowling is a vicious bigot
Slacker and Generation X - the foundational documents of Gen X - came out in 1990 and ‘91, respectively, and were about people in the their mid-to-late 20s. I’m 1975 and was originally too late for Gen X. Now you’ve got fakers from the early 80s claiming they’re not Millenials.
ScHoolboy Q -Blue Lips
#MWE Day 10 (on day 13)
ScHoolboy Q - Blue Lips. Fast forward ten years from Oxymoron and this is good, but I think I like Oxymoron more, probably it sounds both modern and familiar to my ears, where this might be too new for my untrained ears.
In the short film One Week, Buster Keaton builds a mail order house. However, his rival sneaks in and changes the number on all the pieces so it goes together wrong.
A perfect joke, no notes.

#MWE day 9 (on day 12)
ScHoolboy Q has an intelligent, aggressive style that feels authentic and uncompromising even when the music is catchy as hell. I love Collard Greens, don’t love Studio. Apparently both songs were big hits at the time, but I’m ten years behind so they’re new to me.
#MWE Day 8 (on day 11)
I like Blues, in that vague way that just about everyone likes Blues music. But I only *love* a tiny subset - trance-like country blues, vocals with a haunted edge. Music that balances unstudied rawness with tremendous skill. Basically, I love this Junior Kimbrough album.
