I still don’t have it in my hands yet, but Métal Hurlant #18 – 'Transhumanisme: Upgrade ou Crève' has just been released in France, in which I published another short comic with my own script: The Brain of God (Le Cerveau de Dieu), produced last year. A few panels 🧠

Cole City #1 - A retro futurist comic on hope and rebellion
Inspired by Final Fantasy VII, Upton Sinclair, and Fritz Lang's Metropolis, Cole City is a stylish story about finding your fight.
The Kickstarter for Cole City has launched! A comic created and written by @fasterthanshaun.bsky.social, for which I worked on the interior pages, cover, and concept art. Cole City is a stylized city that evokes Fritz Lang’s Metropolis and the turbulence of the early 20th-century labor struggles 🛠️

A few pages away from finishing this project, the coloring stage is very satisfying because everything finally comes together compositionally. I realized that I find it quite difficult to draw vegetation in an organic way, so it was pretty challenging. Script by Aaron Shaps.

I am completely against generative AI, but Gurney is not a tech bro trying to destroy art; he's an old painter trying to understand the present. His newsletter is full of knowledge about art. You're blowing this out of proportion. It's a little sad to see how people are mocking him in the comments.

I’m playing Magic Shandalar for the first time and came across a beautiful card I didn’t know about, Granite Gargoyle. I’m trying to build a red deck around this creature because the artwork is so evocative (basically because it looks like a sphinx 😏)

Some of the tubes I used while painting Khanef. For the blue of the sphinx, I used two Blue Nicker: Light and Cerulean. For the rest of the painting, I worked with Daler Rowney and Pébéo gouaches with a very limited palette: Yellow Ochre, Naples Yellow, Primary Yellow, Burnt Umber, and Primary Blue.

Last week was all about wrapping up production cycles. Besides finishing the inks for Ringbreaker #2, I also completed the layouts for The Shadow in the Jungle written by Aaron Shaps. Now it’s time to go over everything, make some adjustments, and dive into the inking process across these 22 pages.

It's almost a constant that Buddhist iconography seeps into the comics I create. Here are the concept designs of the Christ Child and the Buddha Child, the main characters of The Uterus of God (l'Utérus de Dieu), published in Métal Hurlant #16.

It's a shame; they've recently started publishing several of their books in French, but not in English. You'll have to visit Argentina and pick up everything we have here (although it's in Spanish, of course), or have a cup of coffee with him; he speaks perfect English.
