Love Tudor history, dark academia and/or mystery? Put The Lost Book of Elizabeth Barton by Jennifer N. Brown (rel 4/14) on your radar. Two timelines, a modern academia mystery interwoven with the story of the Holy Maid of Kent. Women navigating patriarchy 500 years apart. Recommended! #booksky πŸ“šπŸ’™

All The World Can Hold by Jung Yun, rel 3/10. Passengers sailing on a famous-but-aging cruise to Bermuda, full of their own problems, and departing on Sept 16, 2001? Wow. Great premise, great meta setup, great way to explore the changing world, inside and out. 4+ stars. #booksky πŸ“šπŸ’™

The title alone says that 'Family Drama' by Rebecca Fallon is my cup of tea, so I jumped at the chance to read a review copy. Timeline jumps took me out of the story at times, and I struggled with one relationship, but enjoyed it. I look forward to more from this debut author. #netgalley #bookskyπŸ“šπŸ’™

Missing Sam by Thrity Umrigar is both a domestic mystery and a complex drama with a multiracial lesbian couple at its center. Highly recommended for fans of family dramas, character-driven mysteries, and queer fiction. Releases on 1/27. #BookSky πŸ“šπŸ’™ #NetGalley

Book cover of Skylark by Paula McLain showing title, author, and text stating that she is the New York Times bestselling author of The Paris Wife. Background image of book cover is in two parts. Lower half: A Paris skyline of the Seine at sunset, including bridges and buildings in shadow. Fades to the upper half: A night sky with stars, and an image of a red skylark.

β€œGreat tragedies don’t ask for great heroes – they ask for ordinary people willing to do the next right thing.” Skylark by Paula McLain is dual-timeline historical fiction at its best. Two stories, centuries apart, connected by Paris. Very relevant to current events. Highly recommend! #BookSky πŸ“šπŸ’™

I second (or third!) The Loopy Whisk. I’ve been GF for 15 years, and I enjoy baking so much more since I’ve found her recipes.

Everything is bad, but books are good. Get a book. Read the book. Cherish the book. Finish the book. Tell your friends about the book, and leave a review of the book. Hold the book close. Listen to what it tells you. Do as it commands. Place it on the dread altar and let it guide your every choice.

Highly recommend the new historical mystery release 'The Art of a Lie' by Laura Shepherd-Robinson. Great characters, well-plotted, and clever. Plus, well-researched 18th century London! If you love Sarah Waters, I think you might enjoy this. #NetGalley #BookSky πŸ“šπŸ’™

Reality TV meets a near-future climate and tech capitalist dystopia in a new, Black Mirroresque novel, The Compound by Aisling Rawle. Best to jump in without much prior knowledge. I had ending issues, but 2+ weeks later, I'm still thinking about it, so would love to discuss. #TheCompound #BookSky πŸ“šπŸ’™

This is the book cover for The Great Mann by Kyra Davis Lurie, showing the book title and author's name. The foreground shows a Black man in profile wearing a fedora, whose face is partially obscured by a red cloth. In the background, we can see a 1940s Los Angeles city street.

'The Great Mann' by Kyra Davis Lurie releases today. It's a fresh Gatsby retelling, focused on the wealthy, Black Sugar Hill neighborhood of 1940s LA. Familiar characters, fresh tensions, and an untold history make for one great novel. Highly recommended for historical fiction fans! #BookSky πŸ“šπŸ’™

I enjoyed The Book Club for Troublesome Women by Marie Bostwick, though I wanted more complexity & depth. Rare to read a story centered on feminism in the early 1960s. Sadly still very relatable. Highly recommended for fans of Sara Ackerman. 3.5 stars. Thanks to Harper Muse and NetGalley. #BookSky

Finland ends homelessness and provides shelter for all in need - scoop.me In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Why? The country applies the "Housing First" concept agains homelessness.

β€œIn Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.”
