A reply to a question on my strawpage. The question reads: two things actually. how did you figure out how to draw metal so well, and same with genitals actually. both are things i have realised are sooo difficult to draw but once its done well, the results are so satisfying and yours are always just wonderful the reply reads: So for genitals, what worked for me is doing studies. Looking at the thing, even though I know some ppl don't like that. I also found these tutorials by @xxxenokun back in the day and they were really helpful in figuring the bits out. I also fount that it helped me to study how artists that I liked did them, since there can be so much variety in the genital shapes. Attached are two tutorials by xxxenokun showing genitals and their basic shapes and tipps for drawing them. A continuation of the reply, showing some step by step how I render metal, I am sure I forgot a million things about it but this is not a tutorial, I'm not a teacher QAQ The text bit reads: Metal is kind of a different story, it's more vibes based for me. in the beginning it was A lot of looking at how other artists do it and doing studies, as well as looking at pictures. Black and white is usually just shading and highlights. if I want it glossier I add more contrast to shading and highlights. This isn't really a tutorial, haha, but maybe it helps. when it comes to coloring armor seems intimidating but it gives a lot of freedom when you figured reflections out. Sometimes I am lazy and just throw a gradient map on it. For full illustrations I often just play with different hues in a similar value range to add some interest.

A continuation of the reply, showing two pics of armors in action. The text reads: The best is looking at real life pics though, it will show you how armor looks in different situations. These are two great examples that show how it reflects the surrounding. On the left there is a lot of green mixed in the base color of the armor bcs of reflections, on the top there are a lot of blue reflections from the sky. you can also see the difference in the two suits of armor on the left, one looking more polished, with sharper reflections. The one on the right is more matte, more worn.
