Having lived in England, I pull many of my character names + places or variations of them from time there. So, Bracken Gardens becomes Bracken Lane or Close. As others have said, I base many characters + their names on nice + not so nice people in my past, my husband’s or my kids’. #kidlitchat
Wow, I was just chatting about this today! I do it frequently but have steered clear since I got a harsh critique from an editor once saying it was clear my story was just based on the title. Okay, maybe mss. could have been better but c’mon! So many of us do this! #kidlitchat
