Parade Route:

The Parade will leave the Supreme Court of Canada, 301 Wellington Street & proceed east on Wellington over the Rideau Canal to Sussex Drive.
Turning north on Sussex to York before entering the Market.

Inspections are common and done on a cyclical basis.

This immediate area got hit by a flood last year and I simply requested that they ensure the infrastructure is in order and can withstand the expected volumes.

Residents & road users can expect some traffic/transit impacts in the downtown core tomorrow for the St. Patrick’s Day parade.

With the pending flash-thaw & rain this weekend, everyone is encouraged to ensure their local catch basin is clear from ice/debris.

Earlier this week, I directed the City to inspect the Kingston Ave culvert & all stormwater infrastructure in the area to be sound and functional.

Police officers supported by the Emergency Services Search and Rescue team are currently in the area of Hogs Back Park conducting a search for a person in crisis.
Air and water resources are on scene to assist with the search.
There is no threat to public safety.

The Rideau Canal Skateway will close tomorrow, Wednesday March 4, at 10 pm.

Blasting on the Rideau River is scheduled to begin on February 28
Every year, the City works in partnership with the Rideau Valley CA to prepare for its annual Rideau River Flood Control operations/blasting.
This work is critical to mitigate the risk of flooding along the Rideau

The OCDSB is circulating three schools/parcels to the City of Ottawa.
This is part of the disposal process before the OCDSB can sell the three sites.

They are:

The broken watermain in Carleton Heights Park has been repaired but it required damaging the community ice rink in the process.
As a result, the outdoor skating rink in Carleton Heights Park is now closed for the season.

Congratulations to the Canadian Men's Hockey Team for playing an excellent game, forcing overtime and winning the silver medal.

Snow removal crews moved into residential neighborhoods early this AM & work will continue all day.
The nightshift will be back & will focus on cleaning up the transportation network and any problem areas such as bus stops, crosswalks, intersections, ped islands & cul de sacs.

Somerset Coun Ariel Troster stood and spoke to this very point, countering a well known developer's point and stating that downtown is also a neighbourhood that thousands have chosen to live in - and do so happily. Not just a sea of federal public servants and national museums.

The Ottawa Police is seeking the public’s assistance to identify a suspect involved in three robberies in the Meadowlands/Prince of Wales area btwn Feb 16-17.

The suspect has robbed three restaurants & is described as a White man, approx 35 yrs old, 5'5 to 5'8 tall, medium build

Jennifer Barrett of the Canadian Urban Institute says that our downtown can not just be a one destination visit and go home, rather, multiple visits to various sites.

This morning, I am attending the Ottawa Downtown Forum - 2026.
The Mayor is announcing major projects as part of the Byward Market Action Plan:

-renovation of the Market Building,
-repair and renewal of the Clarance St parking garage,
-York St integrated renewal (water and road).

All household curbside waste/recycling collection is delayed by one day, all week, due to Family Day today.
