Jeff Bezos is worth $239 billion. The Washington Post reportedly loses about $100 million a year.* He could fund it for 2390 years.
The gutting of this institution is a choice, not a necessity.
*The losses ballooned as subscribers fled after Bezos intervened editorially.
"Maximalism, Instagram-ready cocktails, and all things 'vibe' have defined the dining scene over the last few years. Eebee’s feels like the antidote to all that gimmickry."

In my last 6-7 posts I've gotten one like. I know I have a much smaller following here than FB and X but this is worrisome.
Seen in DC... #CyberStuck
Some things to keep in mind, ICE agents.
Salt distribution locations this weekend
"Bring a bucket, a wagon, a box—anything to come pick up salt to address icy and hazardous conditions near your home."
The Kennedy Rec Center is closest to our neighborhood at 1401 7th St NW, Washington, DC Google Maps: maps.app.goo.gl/Uvy911vtcGUR...
That is either really dumb or a testament to the dedication of their patrons. Or both!
WaPo death spiral —

Incredibly sad.

Be safe in this weather, everyone! 🥶❄️
Brutal news from Bar Pilar for their owners, employees, and for the neighborhood: They'll close permanently after this weekend.
Deferred COVID rent came due. They sought an extension hoping for recovery, but foot traffic stayed low while and costs rose. There was no sustainable path forward. 😥
I know nothing about that camp for kids but as adults we had a great time staying in those cabins and exploring the park during a wedding celebration weekend in October. Seems like it could be great for kids.
Looking forward to the new and improved Ben's Chili Bowl after the current major renovation is completed!
Come on, @mayorbowser.dc.gov, your effort to embarrass that young reporter was uncalled for. You could have made the same point without implying she doesn't have the experience to ask that perfectly fair question about some residents' perception of your walk.

"A broad coalition of groups across the country is calling for a coordinated Ice Out For Good Weekend of Action...to demand accountability, honor the life lost, and make visible the human cost of ICE’s actions."
Thank you! ✊

2025 has been a shitty, scary, and downright terrible year.
But D.C. is still the same beautiful city, full of resilient, organized, smart, and compassionate people.
Here are five of our favorite stories we published this year, showcasing exactly those people.
Of Trump’s many crimes this is well down the list as far as the impact on people’s lives, but it's near the top for how disgusting it is.
It's the John F Kennedy *Memorial* Center for the Performing Arts. Who puts his own name on a someone's memorial?
"Ben’s Chili Bowl isn’t just a spot to grab lunch or a hangover half-smoke; it’s a cultural institution. [Ben's] has served a signature D.C. dish to everyone from hardworking laborers to Hollywood celebrities, all while bearing witness to a neighborhood in flux."

They're not even bothering to hide their racism anymore. They could pick any number of DC streets but they chose the former Black Lives Matter Plaza to name after a shameless racist?
It's a big FU to DC in general & the Black community specifically. dub.sh/CharlieKirkDC
"Only Ginsburg’s black judicial robe is painted onto the building itself. Everything else...can be lifted off and reinstalled elsewhere."
"Wise said she plans to donate the mural to an organization or community group that can preserve it." wtop.com/dc/2025/12/g...
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
As an American it pains to say this but: This is a World Cup to skip — for your own safety and to protest the Trump administration, or limit your attendance to matches in Canada or Mexico.
The US is hostile to international visitors: youtu.be/nbwuaw5_hrg
Come visit us after we oust the fascists! ✊
"At least...this positive ruling gives hope that someone who drops off their child at school might actually make it back home instead of being unlawfully arrested and swept to a detention center, and then rapidly deported without any due process whatsoever."
The if-it-bleeds-it-leads social media guy. 🙄
Gratitude doesn't fix everything, but it does make life a little lighter, even when the world is a mess. It’s no small thing that we set aside a day just to pause and appreciate what we have.
Wishing everyone a good, peaceful Thanksgiving. 🙏
(1) Prayers for the victims' recovery; this was an appalling act.
(2) How to guarantee it won't happen again: Get the National Guard out of DC! They're not needed nor wanted here.
This has never been about crime. It is an effort to normalize the sight of armed military on American streets.
