Just popped over to sky cricket and discovered they've got live coverage of the π― auction.
Bit disappointed each player isn't being led round a sand ring with a paper lot number pasted on their arse, tbh.
Player auctions manage to combine all the mind-numbing tedium of transfer windows and drafts, with an extra layer of antediluvian ick factor that only seems amplified when applied to women's sports. (IMO)

Qualified for t20 World Cup.
Hasn't made a football World Cup since 2014.
Me, a nerd, watching Game of Thrones.
Jon: Who are you?
Aemon: My father was Maekar the first of his name. My brother Aegon reigned after him, when I had refused the throne, and his son was Aerys⦠whom they called the Mad King.
Jon: Youβre Aemon Targaryen!
Me: Nah thatβs Genial Harry Grout mate.
Definitely. Will be interesting to see how they do later this year in qualifying for the Premier 12 when they won't have their MLB players.
π There's a chicken roaming the outfield at the Cayman vs Mexico game at the World Cup Qualifier and I'm constantly distracted by it!
Both teams come into the match with 0-3 records. In cricket this would very much be a dead rubber. But in this tournament the 5th place team is the only one to go back to the qualifier.
So even a game that involves the worst teams in the pool, there's still a lot to play for. (2/2)
Today's Great Britain v Brazil game at the World Baseball Classic is a good example of how baseball does global events better than cricket. (1/2)

As in the men's game, the richest most powerful boards play "too much" and the have nots don't play anywhere near enough.
But there is absolutely no inclination from those in power to create a more balanced schedule, to give an inch of leverage, or redistribute any wealth.
To pick up a conversation on commentary, only those at the very top think there's "too much" women's cricket.
e.g. West Indies' entire women's regional schedule for 2026 amounted to 9 games per side, played over the course of 2 weeks.
Scotland women haven't played a home international since 2022.
Posted this the other day but I wrote during the last one about why baseball does World Cups better than cricket. www.cricketeuropearchive.com/ARTICLES/THE...
Optical illusion of a woman bent over some papers. Her sunglasses are pushed up and she is wearing a hair band so the top of her head looks exactly like a Muppet face
Sorry I know the world is in a terrible fix but I've been laughing at this for ten minutes now
Whatever the context, this is a really shitty way to treat an employee. Player unions in cricket need to throw their weight around more.
Elon Musk gets a lot of grief for buying Twitter and taking it over. But if he'd bought LinkedIn and fucked it up, he'd be regarded as a hero
Qualifying for the next men's T20 World Cup starts on Sunday in Cayman Islands. Mexico, Argentina and Suriname involved as well as the hosts. 47 year old Alejandro Ferguson, international debut 1994, is playing for Argentina. Matches live streamed for free on ICC TV.

Brazil is the best bet for a win. One win should be enough to get them in the next tournament if other results go as expected.

Jazz Chisholm could be an absolutely massive British sports star if we only allowed things like that to happen
