What is in store for faithful Anglicans in 2026? The short answer to this question, is of course, "God alone knows", and it is perhaps for this reason that Minnie Louise Hoskin's poem is so often quoted at the turn of each and every year:"Go out in...

What have you read in 2025? It is perhaps unsurprising that the blogs that have enduring significance are more analytical; events are placed in context, cultures are examined, questions are asked and help is offered.

Do you want to get a 'feel' for the Anglican Futures blog? This list of our ten most read blogs from 2025 alongside the top ten 'legacy' blogs (published before 2025 but still being read this year) will give you a good way in.

Looking for ideas of books/papers that deal with male and female ontology from a Christian perspective... not the usual roles/ relationship stuff but dealing with the more fundamental qu "What IS a man/ woman?" Any ideas?

Pray bigger prayers We were thinking in our community group on Tuesday night about the kind of prayers we pray. Or, rather, the kind of prayers we often don't pray. We seem quite happy to pray generically that God's will be done, but we seem more reticent to ask him specifically to do particular things - even those things that would (potentially) seem in line with his will. We are happy to pray for Oldham in broad terms, happy to ask him to save people generally, but very often get a bit shy about asking him to save people specifically or even to save everybody explicitly.

Welby - "I was being thick" Justin Welby has said that the only reason he held a traditional view of marriage and sexuality was that he was “being thick”, brainless, dopey, moronic (choose your word).

If you think the Church of England has got itself into a right pickle over blessing same-sex relationships - but that is nothing compared to the mess they've made of defining 'male' and 'female'.
