Didn't. Social anxiety and absolutely zero self esteem kept me as a lurker until I got invested in the fgc in ~2018. Few years later some bad experiences there sent me back into isolation until late last year when I decided to socially transition. Having at least 1 self esteem has helped immensely.

Queer time sucks. Thinking about how my entire 20's was a complete waste cause I never desired human connection and actively avoided it until I started hrt hurts, but it's also what motivates me to be brave now. I know what it's like to just exist and won't let that happen ever again.
During this same time period Capcom also released 5 Onimusha games, 8 Resident Evil games, and 10 Mega Man Games. This wasn't even them just milking old franchises either, DMC and Oni were brand new at the time and Mega Man had 2 spin-off series targeting new demographics.

Oh, and Durante somehow got it working on AMD cards. All the info I could find showed that AMD cards used to have to use a different method called Adaptive AA. IDK if that's what he is actually using and still just labeling it sgssaa or what but it works on my 9070 and my brothers 6800xt on linux

Not a game dev so my info is probably wrong but I know ue5 lets you use msaa with forward rendering but everyone uses deferred rendering because we have devovled as a species. Only partially joking there.

But to actually answer the question I miss the era right before screen space tech moved beyond ambient occlusion. SSR looks like shit to me. Something like stalker clear sky would be perfect if it had the sparse grid super sampling aa you get in modern falcom games on pc.
The franchises that are surviving have at least a spin off every 2-3 years. Things like re, monster hunter, and souls games stay in peoples minds because they aren't 7 years removed from their last game but also not annualized slop.
I don't really have a favorite era. I can appreciate anything before modern stochastic rendering but I wish more devs factored in the time it takes to create the art into their production plans. They are killing franchises by spacing releases so far apart and "modern" visuals is a huge cause of that
