This is why I started on a caching layer form my app as soon as R/W to the data store was done. Is it basic? Yes? can I easily swap it out when I need to enhance it? also yes. A little planning goes a long way.

At some point in the past to notion of not doing “premature optimization“ entered programming. And evidently a number of people too that to mean “I can write the worst preforming code ever cause CPUs are fast now. I don't need to fix my O(n^3) loop with 5k elements.
And then there’s me hoping to pick up cheap enterprise grade hardware when the bubble pops so I build a data center in my basement.
