My wife and I are always jonesing for an annual/twice-a-year Oreo variety pack. Like, I'm not going all in for special Pimento Cheese Oreos, but I'd sure try a couple. Maybe this is a thing that already exists?

I'm worried when Kristi Noem finds out she's been fired she's going to become America's first obedience school shooter.

What would happen if a hot air balloon was punctured in mid-air? Answer (1 of 4): Not much really, except the pilot gets quite embarrassed. Generally it happens due to an indescretion like running into a tree or burning whine you hit the ground. Usually happens aro...

I got curious about this and found a first-hand account of the accident from an experienced balloonist. (I had been in Mock’s balloon that morning writing a puff piece for the New Orleans paper.) Seems I was luckier than I guessed. Yikes.

God wanted us to fly in things that are heavier than air, because obviously.

I was 20 so my reaction was basically, β€œHuh, that’s weird … well anyway.” Now that I’m not 20 it tugs on me at unexpected yet not infrequent intervals.

I disembarked from a hot air balloon and ~20 flight minutes later the envelope ripped and the balloonist died.

I was stunned to see it, as it was a comprehensive and well-organized store. (A church or library sale? Sure.) They let you pile up your finds at the register while you shop but I wouldn’t let go of that one β€” and was braced for a β€œwait a sec” moment on checkout. Nope, no muss no fuss.

Found one in Jacksonville last year after more than a decade of checking every time I was in a store. Think it was $2.50!

Wikipedia:

About Strunk & White, the writer Dorothy Parker said that:
If you have any young friends who aspire to become writers, the second-greatest favor you can do them is to present them with copies of The Elements of Style. The first-greatest, of course, is to shoot them now, while they're happy. 21

That trilogy is the best portrayal of Han outside of the first two movies, IMO. Daley gets that Han always does the right thing ... but only after exhausting all the alternatives. Anyway, enjoy!

Church book sale find: Brian Daley’s wonderful third Han Solo novel, with the spine never so much as cracked. I own it so I left it to be someone else’s lucky find.
