I was 20 so my reaction was basically, “Huh, that’s weird … well anyway.” Now that I’m not 20 it tugs on me at unexpected yet not infrequent intervals.
I disembarked from a hot air balloon and ~20 flight minutes later the envelope ripped and the balloonist died.
I was stunned to see it, as it was a comprehensive and well-organized store. (A church or library sale? Sure.) They let you pile up your finds at the register while you shop but I wouldn’t let go of that one — and was braced for a “wait a sec” moment on checkout. Nope, no muss no fuss.
