Is there a healthy fascination with Hitler?

Is there a healthy fascination with Hitler?
Thanks. But I don't think there was as much disagreement there. Anti-Blackness permeates every corner of U.S. politics. It is, as the poster noted, a huge element. In the case of some of these figures, there are also other factors which we report on.
Would not be the first time!
Oh, I don't object to it! I was amused by the incompetence of the invitation.
My employer, Dartmouth College, has just sent me an invitation to "A Woman's Guide to a Financial Plan." At first I was like, that's terrible! Why don't they name her? Then I realized that they mean this as a special plan for women. To which they've invited me. I guess that's progressive...?
1. Yesterday, Joe Rogan called transgender people perverts and school shooters to his audience of tens of millions of people.
It was his most overt display of transphobia yet.
Democrats wanted to court this man and his listeners.
The latest from our journalist, S. Baum.
I canβt do this anymore
New York Attorney General Letitia James is investigating the death of Nurul Amin Shah Alam, a Blind Rohingya refugee who died in the cold streets of Buffalo days after Border Patrol dumped him without coordinating with his family or lawyers.
Harper to the judge: "Your driver's license doesn't list your height and weight at birth. It doesn't list where you used to live. It identifies who you are now."
Of course Herrera is a fascist, running as a stylistically more obvious exponent of the beliefs of what has become a fascist party. How does that in any way imply that we in opposition to that should go softer on those who refuse to distance themselves from fascists?
Well, thanks for reading. We disagree about some of the factors in this particular situation. Of course anti-Blackness permeates and shapes everything within the U.S.
The first lie of fascism is inevitability. And that goes for opportunists who dogwhistle at fascism to get ahead, too. The Democratic Party can stink, as it does. That does not require us to support people who flirt with fascism.
YUP.
Pretty sure anybody who decides these posts--in which I call Israel fascist (which is genocidal) and defend antizionism--are some kind of loop-de-loop stealth defense of Israel is worth blocking. If you insist on ZOG, you're not an antizionist. You're an antisemite, & not a very bright one.
Hey, thanks for saying that. That's my hope -- lot of good-intentioned folks, busy with their lives and so naturally not as versed in history of fascism, susceptible to a notion that was designed precisely to fool them. Not driven by bigotry.
US imperialism and fascism--overlapping but not identitical--have their own goals they see as advanced through different conceptions of Israeli military power. Why would you suppose it's the other way round? Seriously--how is that more plausible barring a truly surreal conspiracy?
Justice Dems do a lot of good work. And, like any political movement, will sometimes get it wrong. Barring VERY persuasive evidence, I don't think there's some Russian conspiracy to recruit shitty candidates like Platner (or Newsom)! Assholes are plenty of capable of assholing on their own.
Does the fascist Israeli regime support the U.S. war on Iran? Obviously. Did they "puppet master" it? If you're tempted toward that conspiracy theory you're giving into the undertow of a very old fascist bait-and-switch. You're not fighting fascism. You're slipping rightward.
Antizionism isn't antisemitism. The very old notion that Israel secretly controls the U.S. *is.* White supremacists call it "ZOG," "Zionist Occupation Gov't." It's *not* antizionism. Such tired bigotry is most useful to the fascist Israeli regime, which uses it to deflect from its real crimes.
Dude, βIsraelβ did not do 9/11. It did not kill Kirk. Israel is a genocidal state. Antizionism doesnβt equal antisemitism. But asserting either of the above isnβt antizionism. Itβs antisemitism, and dumb, and fascist, and if anything itβs also useful to Israeli regime.
At this point, nothing. If when the tat came out heβd been honest, I prob would have been on board. Instead he lied and has now made clear heβs going to keep dog whistling. Itβs not just grotesque, but itβs extremely weird. I not only disagree, obv, I feel like I have no idea what heβs about.
Itβs not for me, any more than Breitbartβs βBlack Crimeβ section was distinct from more direct attacks on Blackness, or the idea that βimmigrants bring diseasesβ is distinct from racism. Would you excuse those? If not, what is the difference? & the Kirk stuff?
INBOX: @couriernewsroom.bsky.social is circulating a video of #TX23 Republican nominee Brandon Herrera showing off his "1939 edition" copy of Mein Kampf.
This is a real video from the official White House account on a war that is currently killing people. I donβt know how the US is going to come back from this.
The post was βJUSTICE THE AMERICAN WAY. πΊπΈ π₯β
This is an actual Pentagon press release. βAn Army believed to be casualtyβ¦the believed to be deathβ
The idea that βthe Jews did 9/11β and βIsrael killed Charlie Kirkβ IS gutter bigotry, and as directly linked to violence past and present as anything Duke says. I donβt think you mean to, but it sounds like youβre inadvertently more forgiving when itβs directed at Jews? Iβm asking earnestly.
Exactly. And the fact that she was is a big part of why Dem consultant hacks decided they needed a white man with a beard. Which they didnβt.
Ok. We disagree in our assessment. Platner is a dealbreaker for me. Most people donβt know much or any of the story. But those who do and remain in his corner are, to me, no different than those who defend or excuse Newsomβs anti-trans flirtations.
Would you say this if he went on David Dukeβs podcast, praised it? Iβm asking in earnest not as a gotcha because this is that. That podcastβs languageβand Stew Petersββand the candidate he wonβt distance from. This is fanning flames of an actively murderous belief.
Newsom has done the same dance with bigotry that Platner has, only for Newsom itβs trans people and the unhoused. I donβt think either man actually holds the bigotries they promote, tho thatβs not my concern. My concern is that theyβre willing to use them to get ahead.
