Before Danielle Smith speaks...
Before Danielle Smith speaks... YouTube video by Alberta NDP

After six years in power, a fourth budget, and a third multi-billion-dollar deficit, Danielle Smith will blame everyone but herself.

Albertans deserve a Premier who takes responsibility, not one who tells us to make hard choices while refusing to own up to her own mistakes.

None of Smith's referendum questions are likely to result in actual policy change.

Because they require constitutional amendments (federal veto) or are plainly unconstitutional.

Assuming "yes" votes carry, what then?

Kenney's equalization referendum didn't soothe separatists. It emboldened them.

There is so much to unpack from Smith's TV address. It was a firehose of information. But one thing I need to emphasize. A referendum question to introduce an Alberta head tax on immigration!

Danielle Smith promises Alberta referendum over immigration, Constitution changes | Globalnews.ca Premier Danielle Smith said the immigration changes her UCP government has determined Alberta needs to push for are a significant departure from the status quo.

Danielle Smith believes she’s giving us a masterclass in distraction, but this reeks of desperation and Albertans will see right through it.

The UCP is trying its damnedest to gut Alberta health careβ€”underpaying staff and blocking unions, severely cutting budgets for the system, and authorizing private health care to enrich insurance companies. All so that she can funnel money towards oil companies and boondoggles.

My dad has had heart events since he was admitted. Now, if he feels angina, he has to ding a tiny bell and hope a nurse outside the ward hears him. β€œOr you can shout as loud as you can,” they told him.

My dad, 85 years old, suffering from the effects of a 2 year struggle with cancer, and chief of surgery at the Chinook Regional Hospital for decades, was moved from an already overcrowded space to an β€œovercapacity room” while he recovers from a stomach bleed and pneumonia. This is the room. 🧡🧡🧡

UCP MLA Nathan Neudorf wants Lethbridge carved into 3-4 big rural-urban ridings I read all 197 submissions to Alberta’s Electoral Boundaries Commission so you don’t have to

The fix is in for gerrymandering the Lethbridge West constituency out of existence.

They can’t win it fair and square so now they’ll cheat.

It’s highly unusual for a member of cabinet to intervene in an electoral boundaries process.

Legally, Smith has 6 months to call it, and Rachel resigned Dec 30. Generally, the classy thing to do (by convention) is to get the Opposition Leader into the House right away. Instead, Smith is waiting as long as is legal. She did the same with Leth West byelection.

No respect for the office.

Alberta’s provincial election will be held by mid-2026.

The UCP will manufacture disagreements with Ottawa and off they’ll go.

That’s what I just heard from Danielle Smith. This wasn’t a Premier’s Televised Address so much as it was a starting gun for @albertaNDP and @nenshi.

Southern Alberta’s 20+ years of low vaccination uptake coming home to roost.

There was a measles outbreak down here when my 14yo was a baby and his brother, at 2ish, was in daycare.

I lived in fear until I could get that baby vaccinated.

This is so much worse.

Inside an Australian Miner’s Brawl with Alberta Regulators | The Tyee Told to monitor pollution, Montem issued insults and legal threats, documents reveal.

After a foreign company was told they would need an environmental assessment for a coal mine, they had an epic temper tantrum and it took the AER 2 Years to address it!

And the cuts just keep on coming.

Alberta Children & Family Services have now cut Child & Youth Support.

For how adamant Smith & the UCP were that kids need to be supported and protected a year ago, they sure seem to consistently be making them targets…
