I truly wish more people would read science fiction and not just watch big-budget adaptations. SF authors have thought about the ethics of the creator vs. the (technological) creation / created ever since Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein.
Knowing humans, perhaps long before then.

Enough canβt be said about how βmachine-learningβ simply reiterates the anti-blackness of tech bros and their ilk. And that includes the violence of disregard: βoh, we didnβt anticipate that as a possible problem.β Thatβs racist too.

When NYC announced the eviction moratorium in March 2020, I sat in front of my TV and cried.
Early Covid was a horror movie on the East Coast, especially for NYC (I was in Philly), but I remember thinking, "surely we'll get Medicare for All."
Well. I underestimated the depth of our nation's sins.

Smart, competitive athletes want every possible edge they can get. It amazes me when they don't mask before a once-in-a-lifetime competition.

If you've stopped masking, it's not too late to start again. Remember: the ruling class who help trash our planet with fossil fuels, making pandemics & zoonotic spillover more likely, want us to believe Covid is over

Hi, I know there's a lot to doomscroll right now, but sleep deprivation makes everything harder, including the big and small actions you can do to help people in Minneapolis. A donation to a local mutual aid organization is a quick and easy way to help.
You still deserve time to rest and recover.
