Archaia allowed me to make a damn 160 page full color hardbound GN. And set my career on a path of comics and more. It’s never been easy, and comics don’t pay. I’m grateful I had what I had and the future is unknown at this point for me. But prose seems correct. ♥️

I became obsessed with Indy comics in the 00s. SLG had some of my favorites. I always wanted to be a SLG creator, but Vado said no. Hahaha that’s okay, Archaia picked me up in 07 and that was life changing! (I did end up marrying an SLG creator though)

Late 1999 is birth of new beginnings, goth me, and the start of The God Machine. At the time I called it “the comic” then “divine comedy” then “Press Start” THEN finally settling into The God Machine early 00s. I had a lot to learn. But it would borrow from my manga days, my Disney days and more

In the first part of my senior year (1999) my crush handed me “I feel sick” by @jhnenvee.bsky.social and it forever broke my anime brain. I was no longer beholden to an idea that things had to have a manga or big two style. It could be whatever style I wanted. Indy comics was the place to be.

I was a 90s anime kid/teen. These things blew my mind and helped shape some interesting troupes and shattered my Disney/warner bros mind. Things could have edge and complexity. The style was different. It really started with Ako and Vampire Hunter D (80s ver) when they aired on CN & sci-fi channel.
