Thanks for the input! My own research confirms that; the Filio seems to show up on more review lists and te reviews are all positive, so it's definitely on my short list the running for a player in the hundreds and not the thousands.

The research is pointing to the HiBy R4 for a reasonable price but still strong output. The Sony Walkman is well-reviewed but has weak output, so if you like to play it loud, not a good choice. So I'm still leaning toward the R4, I think...
