Fabulous time Dancing in the Old in Lewes this weekend, from the hop-festooned church service celebrating Harveyβs Brewery, to drinking up the last of the old ale in the yard, served by members of various bonfire societies, while dancers entertained us.
Lewes does folklore pretty darn well.
Autumn in the woods! ππππππ₯°

Thanks so much to everyone who participated in my Sussex woodland survey! I had an amazing response and the survey has hit its target and is now closed. Feeling very grateful and hopeful about the world and those who care about its woods. π³π³ποΈ

WE WON!
The Supreme Court has upheld the right to wild camp on Dartmoor. This is a huge win for access to nature.
But we're just getting started.
It was never just about Dartmoor.
Weβre fighting to extend the right to roam, swim, and sleep under the stars - across all of England.

They felled the diseased elm on my street and passers-by were using the hollow stump as a rubbish bin. My neighbours filled it with their garden compost to plant flowers but some squash and potato plants had other ideas. There is now talk of street soup. The elm is still trying to grow.
Bluesky friends! I don't come here often, but I've got a folklore-related survey for my dissertation that I need your help with. Do you have a memory from a pub that sounds too wild to be true? Ever been to a pub where a true local legend resides? Take my survey!

Drones are being used to reforest areas of South West England.
75,000 seeds have been scattered so far. The UK's Woodland Trust said it hoped the new seeding technique would help triple the area of temperate rainforest in Devon and Cornwall by 2050, from 8% to 24% of land area.
So looking forward to reading this. My favourite birds in folk songs are blackbirds - in folklore, they are supposed to be a symbol of rebirth and reinvention. When I heard that, I realised perhaps Paul McCartney knew that too when he wrote βBlackbirdβ for the Beatles. Itβs a nice thought.
