Cookeina tricholoma photographed in Pastaza, Ecuador. This beautiful ascomycete grows on wood in tropical areas - in the USA it only grows in far southern Florida. It was described as Peziza tricholoma from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1834 and moved into Cookeina in 1891.

Cortinarius sect. Leprocybe observed today with Aaron under oaks in Redding, CA near Shasta Lake. This mushroom had a beautiful UV reaction, turning blue in UV when adding 5% KOH.
