First time for me. It's not common. In every contract I've had I get asked to extend longer. I think corporate swooped in and cut money. I know that they cut the pay of a bunch of travel nurses by $10/hr at the same time.
Two things I don't like as a healthcare traveler:
1. I arrived for my new contract 1 week ago and moved into the furnished apartment I'm renting. I was supposed to start at the hospital Tue. They cancelled my contract Mon.
2. Losing a remote in the couch cushions. I don't know what is in there.
Besides disease and death, this is the financial cost of RFK Jr and his band of psychos.
