Now my 2 cents (I am very much not in favor of AI use in general)
So long as AI use is on a similar level as spell checkers and Grammarly assistance, I think we all will just have to get used to it. The game is not coded by AI, they use it because sometimes they are dealing with 20+ year old code.
In general, the team avoids AI art.
AI is used in the coding process to some extent, an is always labeled unless a human misses the label.
The other AI art were place holders and have been removed and replaced by art from actual artists when such became available.
Otherwise AI is used in the coding, primarily in tasks like translating code from one type to another or in bug fixing tasks that their small team might not otherwise get to

The only AI art currently in the game are the pilot portraits which were modified by a human to fit better, and were brought in to avoid asset packs from the community that opened them to possible lawsuits.
