Might obviously be coloured by me being a mini player, but I'm happy for my things to stay fanfiction and fanart even if it features romance left, right and center. There is freedom in filling in the blanks, namely not worrying about shit being canon.
"40k romance when" is a popular take but one I disagree with. While I'm all for adding romance as a motivation for people's action or B plots, the setting is a wargame, I prefer for its identity to stay that way. It's ok. 40k doesn't have to be all things to all people.
When I started the Night Lords trilogy I expected a lot, but not a scene where papa Nurgle says "This could've been an email" and disconnects
