The more we scale Agile, the further we drift from agility itself.
@settling-mud.bsky.social : "Sociotechnical Architecture β Having Your Agile and Your Agility Too"
www.agile-meets-architecture.com/sessions/soc...
In last week's story, @settling-mud.bsky.social told us a very relatable story when everyone seemed to agree, but nobody acted. What would you do? Watch, Read or listen to it here: buff.ly/JX3e6Y4
It's hard when workshop agreement never turns into real action. @settling-mud.bsky.social shares how "success theatre" and unspoken doubts undermine commitment, even with good intentions. She found a path to genuine engagement.

Heading soon to @Γredev, exploring how modeling can become a way of leading complexity. πΏ
From work β collaboration β conversation β new modeling fronts will be explored using relational methodology and sociotechnical architecture.

What a great recap and reflections on my talk about sociotechnical complexity last year's KanDDDinsky written by @smallcircles@social.coop on fediverse π. I couldn't have written it better myself. discuss.coding.social/t/sx-perspec.... The talk itself: www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAav....
π New InfoQ article: How Sociotechnical Design Can Improve Architectural Decisions
Why social well-being isnβt just a means to better softwareβbut a goal in itself.

Architecture is never just technical.
It stands to reason who is learning from whom @ruthmalan.bsky.social. π€Among other things about how to see the best in everyone we encounter.

Recent interview by InfoQ (π @benlinders.bsky.social) about sociotechnical fitness. www.infoq.com/news/2025/05.... We talked about what it means to engage with sociotechnical complexity as a first-order challenge β not just treat it as a gnawing byproduct of scaling software or organizations.
Now we are done, and already one of the best talks Iβve ever seen. ππ»ππ

βIn my mind there is a different between change and transformationβ¦. Change is destructiveβ¦. Transformation is reconstructive.β @settling-mud.bsky.social at @dddeu.bsky.social
(Paraphrased by me. If I got it wrong I hope someone will correct me. Typing fast is hard.)
"Technical design: make the implicit explicit. Social design: make the undiscussable discussable" @settling-mud.bsky.social @johncutle.fish at #dddeu
"Freestyle a bit more in the problem space" @settling-mud.bsky.social at DDD Europe
Huge conference screen with the cynefin quadrants and the text: convert complex problems into predictable, repeatable, orderly software
Domain-driven Designβs magic is to convert complex problems into predictable, repeatable, orderly software - @settling-mud.bsky.social with @johncutle.fish at #dddeu
"We have this mythical person in the DDD community: the domain expert" @settling-mud.bsky.social in the keynote with @johncutle.fish #dddeu
"_The_ domain expert does not exist. It's an abstraction for all the complexities of the domain" @settling-mud.bsky.social
Weβre not even done yet and Iβm already planning to share this talk by @settling-mud.bsky.social and @johncutle.fish at @dddeu.bsky.social with *everyone*
As spring reluctantly reaches Scandinavia, the beauty of impermanence is everywhere. Emerging from some garden work i am wondering - so much βmudβ as the world is in now, how can we keep our hearts open as a lotus flower, free of blame or despair. What do I need to compost, and what to grow?
Made me recall Thomas Carlyle
".... the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing."
I would add to the last bit
... the worst is you do nothing because of how little you CAN do.
Sting ("Englishman in NY") was in the news. His debut musical - the Last Ship - had its opening show at Γstre GasvΓ¦rk in Copenhagen.
Journalist (J): Do you think a song can change the world?
Sting (S): Probably not. I would hope it can plant a seed.
J: Did the musical plant a seed?
S: Yes.
Thrilled to appear on the OrgDev Podcast with Garin & Dani - a fantastic knowledge radiator in the OD&D community. I'm truly humbled by their subtitle, "What can OD learn from DDD?" For me, it's equally true the other way around! π

Loads of practical insight from @hschwentner.bsky.social at #OOP in Munich about domain-driven refactoring. Love the Monolease monolith case, the Hamburg concert hall metaphor and the filmography. Well designed and well deployed!
If a tree falls in the wood and no one posted on BlueSky, did it actually fall? π
@settling-mud.bsky.social if we formalise our team API and misuse team topologies to say: we can only communicate in this API way to 'bridge the gap'. Reducing the social complexity will isolate the software architecture and that impacts trickle down to more brittle software...
www.youtube.com/c/Agiletoagi... expect eventual consistency π
Thanks @vaughnvernon.bsky.social! I discovered this with one monthβs delay. π it makes me so happy πβ€οΈ.
@kenny.weave-it.org The pleasure was totally mine. I always admire you for the kind and inspiring way you share and spread knowledge. It was good I could play a small part in bringing your well-written book to be better known! π
