Looking at public records, the land this Chili's restaurant is on is owned by an REIT and Chili's, along with other restaurant chains, seems to just be leasing their land. I still honestly hope it's just a case of a bad franchise owner or area manager
The Chili's near me has a different REIT
Oh my god, these Doritos tendies look so tasty
We're almost to spring, which means it's still a bit chilly! At least this birdy has this cozy blanket to keep her warm!

Not only are payment processors hypocrites, I don't think they care about "reputational risk" in the way many people think they do
They don't care about their reputation with consumers. In fact, I think they know that ship has sailed. They only care about their reputation with their shareholders
I mean, Canes is right there just south of Chili's. TBF, I think more furries would rather go there with how much they already love Canes lol
The trans NB employee fired by Chili's for being trans worked at their Rosemont, IL location. For all the furries out there, this is across I-90 from MFF
Y'all might want to avoid Chili's & Maggiano's, especially when MFF rolls around later in the year. I'm sure there's better places to eat out at
Actually, it's much worse than that. Payment processors are not even consistent in their prudishness. Just look at how they treat AI companies allowing the exact same thing or much worse (especially Elon's Grok). A very weird hill for them to die on if you ask me

Are there any furries with a journalism background in Washington DC looking for work? My company is hiring. Hybrid only, not remote. DM if interested!
Wait, what? I've been so OOTL on the news, that I didn't even hear a word about hitpieces against Brazil of all countries. It's a tourist hotspot
Where is this claim even coming from? I genuinely want to know if the Trump regime is actually posting Brazil slander. It'd be so stupid if they are
You donβt really need a budget to do indie animation, the problem is βindie animationβ has been reduced to bigger budget/studio works with insane frame-by-frame animation, a big crew/voice cast and a merch line instead of scrappy shit you make in a week by yourself or with some friends in Flash.
Hey, alongside contacting your representatives, this seems like another thing worth putting a bit of your time into and sharing around. If we could get "reputational risk" taken off the table, even in this current climate, that could create a chilling effect on these kinds of policies
for anyone looking: if your reps are republican and/or are already voting for, make sure to let them know why it's bad for republicans too
cite the usual free speech concerns, mention how liberals can sue websites to censor right leaning content online, play to their concerns
I know calling reps is very nerve racking. You're not sure what's the right thing to say, and tbh having a script thrown at me makes things just as nerve racking.
I called today, and I figured I'd write up a transcript of how my call went down. Hopefully it helps demystify the process
If that's the case, as a Floridian furry, I am deeply disappointed that my home con would go down such a route. I've wanted to go to MP ever since I joined in 2019, but whether I will in the future, IDK
*psst* Former Megaplex staffers, y'all should check out Tampa Bay. It's right down I-4 (4/4)
The furry community has historically been centered around the people that make up the community, whether it'd be fursuiters, artists, & general fans. The vibes I get from those running Megaplex now is a push for corporatization, which I'm pretty sure won't go down well with many furries (3/4)
I believe most of the staffers at Megaplex are volunteers. They don't get paid to run the con & yet, whoever made the decision to throw people like them out act like they do. These people are the backbone of conventions. To throw them out with no regard or respect is an absurd move to make (2/4)
For context, just last week, Megaplex's new leadership threw @ransu.bsky.social out from their staff team without much explanation or feedback
Whoever at Megaplex is making these decisions must have the mindset of a corporate CEO because these moves are giving "layoffs without saying layoffs" (1/4)
"Steps are being taken...so that mistakes like [terminating staff artists with recklessness] will not be repeated"
