It is great to join the Elephant Protection Initiative board, along with Sharon Ikeazor and still be actively involved in the fight to preserve Africaโs two iconic elephant species.
The snowdrops are blooming in sunny Fife.
Storm รowyn on the Eden Estuary. There is more and more energy in the atmosphere because of climate change. Until there is a solution we will have to get used to this!
I was astonished to spot 3 forest elephants on a roundabout in Glenrothes yesterday! They have the classic small round ยซย cyclotisย ยป ears and their backs curve upwards to the highest point above their hips!

As a tropical ecologist in exile in Scotland since the military coup in Gabon, I have been exploring the Scottish rain forests. Sadly most of them have been destroyed but Taynish gives a glimpse into what they once were, and could be again. Restoring forests is a great way to fight climate change.
ยซย Bruโsย ยป Chariots of Fire moment on the West Sands today was buffeted by Storm Bert. She seemed perplexed, looking at me as if to ask ยซย what are you humans doing to our planet?ย ยป. As a climate negotiator who attended every COP from Poznan to Dubai all I can reply is ยซย mea culpaย ยป.
Climate change meets ยซย chariots of fireย ยป. On the edge of Storm Bert, St. Andrewโs West Sands are deserted. As heat (=energy) accumulates in the atmosphere weather events become more severe. Droughts, storms, floods, winds . . . We must cut emissions and preserve and restore the worldโs forests!
How does "urge" compare with "invite" or "request"?
