I'm not going to argue against the merits of driving at a reasonable and lawful speed. I'm simply stating that in addition to driving like a maniac at excessive speeds that there are other sources of dangerous road conditions. Camping out obliviously in the left lane being one of them.

Exactly. Driving 90mph down the highway is bad, but by driving needlessly slow in the left most lane faster traffic is forced to the right to pass, where other vehicles are attempting to enter and exit the highway.

Why is it so difficult for some to understand that both situations are dangerous?

Genuine question: wouldn’t the onus be on the vulnerable people to wear face masks themselves? I’m all for looking out for each other as humans, but I’m not aware of any increases in communicable diseases beyond normal levels.
