Lot of misuse and misunderstanding. Nielsen makes mistake #3: www.hightechstrategies.com/chasm-crossi...
@focusedstrategy
I am the original creator of the model called "crossing the chasm." (https://bit.ly/3hEu9Xx) I work with emerging high-tech and clean-tech companies that have novel innovations and want to become a category leader in a growing mainstream market.
Lot of misuse and misunderstanding. Nielsen makes mistake #3: www.hightechstrategies.com/chasm-crossi...
The chasm concept fails in most clean-energy industries. Government subsidies and incentives completely skew the adoption lifecycle. Here's a better model, specifically for EVs: www.hightechstrategies.com/accelerating...
Have you seen the recent survey that shows "crossing the chasm" is frequently misused and widely misunderstood? www.hightechstrategies.com/chasm-crossi...
@apenwarr.ca The Innovator's Dilemma causes chasm confusion!! www.hightechstrategies.com/chasm-crossi...
@jpkroehling.bsky.social Unfortunately "crossing the chasm" is frequently misused and widely misunderstood. Your prompt might just give you widely-held mistakes. www.hightechstrategies.com/chasm-crossi...
@timkellogg.me The adoption curve only applies to applications and use cases. (e.g. has AI for HR specialists at accounting firms in Japan achieved mainstream adoption?) www.hightechstrategies.com/chasm-crossi... The adoption curve comes from the "use of hybrid seed by corn farmers in Iowa."

Did you know that the chasm concept was originally developed during a project for a healthcare company called NeuroCom (when they were selling a computerized method of diagnosing balance disorders)? See the 4-year study by the Diffusion Research Institute: diffusion-research.org/research_art...
We have discovered there are actually 14 transition points (or chasms) on the adoption curve that require us to update our product offering and/or delivery mechanisms, and all of the things that deliver value to the customer: www.hightechstrategies.com/15-stages-of...

Have you seen the recent survey that shows "crossing the chasm" is frequently misused and widely misunderstood? www.hightechstrategies.com/chasm-crossi... And Clayton Christensen's book "The Innovators Dilemma" is one of the primary causes of chasm confusion !!

Check out my example of how the State of Vermont used the low risk recipe to achieve the highest COVID vaccination rate "in the world." www.hightechstrategies.com/perception-o...
Rogers describes change as being caused by the evolution or βreinventionβ of programs, products or services, so they become a better fit for the needs of individuals and groups. By constantly lowering the perception of risk, you are leveraging the foundation of Rogers' model of diffusion.
But more importantly he doesn't seem to understand that Everett Rogers (the creator of Diffusion of Innovations) always said that trying to get people to change their behavior is never a good idea.
@joefordemocracy.bsky.social I've watched this video several times and Sinek misses the point that people change their adopter category constantly based how much risk they are willing to accept when presented with a new application, product or innovation.

Crossing the chasm only applies to about 10% of all new products. But most business people try to apply it in all cases. The most common mistakes and areas of confusion are listed in this article: www.hightechstrategies.com/chasm-crossi...
