Huge, asymmetrical blossoming cherry tree, illuminated by streetlight.

Same tree by daylight. The blossoming branches are in the shape of a vast smile.

I keep stopping to admire this magnificent cherry - it’s one tree, not two and the trunk is to the far left (the thin ‘trunk’ in the middle is a downward-dipping branch). It’s a cloud of glory!

Lessons from ‘Letters to Loved Ones’ A project transcribing letters from WWII brought history to life.

I recently finished a 3-month project transcribing letters and documents for an IWM / DCMS project marking the 80th anniversary of VE / VJ Day.

It was a moving and fascinating project.

Here are some of my lessons from the Letters to Loved Ones archive and links to letters I think you should read.

Happy St David's Day - and here's an absolutely gorgeous, emotional rendition of 'Calon Lân' (though I feel slightly sorry for the excited family, waiting for their kid's big telly moment, who discovered their child was dressed as a leek).

Warleigh Nature Reserve, Bath Bath's largest rewilding project has begun: Warleigh Nature Reserve. Right on the River Avon, and already full of beavers.

Don’t need any sympathy, but I do need a few quid in this crowdfunder so it’s all worth it. I finally get to work on the largest rewilding project in Bath, a place I’ve always called home, on a River that really needs a hand. I just want this to work. www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/warleigh-n...

'It is ...pertinent to ask why the regulator approved a study it now says risks sterilising children, damaging their bones, and impairing their cognition. Everything the MHRA appears to now be concerned [about] was known at the time of approval.'

If I were a lifestyle writer, I'd say 'See how winter aconite adds a much-needed POP of colour to the February garden.' but fortunately I'm not, and all style-related mentions of the word 'pop' are forbidden on my timeline.
Instead, I'm going to comment what a lovely BRIGHT YELLOW they are.

Letter from a group of psychiatrist's asking why the 9000 children given puberty blockers at the Tavistock have never been followed up.

A letter from a group of psychiatrists in Today's Times, asking why there was never any follow up of the 9000 children given puberty blockers at the Tavistock clinic.

The Gender clinics failed to follow up on their patients.
The first thing to do before subjecting a new cohort of children to blocked puberty is find the 2,000 or so adults in the UK who were prescribed puberty blockers by GIDS and see how they're doing.

'...the study wasn’t really looking at the impact of puberty blockers per se at all. It compared children who received them immediately with others who received them a year later..'
