Statement of Support for Ms. Nolasco and the Talaingod 13
The Centre for Applied Human Rights have released a statement of support for the Ms. Nolasco and the Talaingod 13.
The Centre for Applied Human Rights is deeply concerned by court proceedings against the Talaingod 13 in the Philippines.
Their conviction represents a clear effort to criminalise human rights defenders and further marginalise Indigenous communities in Mindanao.

Art Rights Truth (ART) has collaborated with Amnesty International and CIVICUS on two separate calls, inviting artists and activists to work together. The result of these collaborations was a series of works that offered distinctive perspectives on the right to protest and its value to civil society

An image of Waleed behind bars holding up a peace sign. Above the image, text reads: "Waleed has endured over a decade of arbitrary detention for his peaceful human rights work, and is still facing harsh conditions including solitary confinement, sleep deprivation, and inadequate medical care."
A bold red banner with yellow text reads "ARTICLE 11 DECLARATION ON HUMAN RIGHTS DEFENDERS". The banner is bordered top and bottom with barbed wire, all set against a bright yellow background.
Text against a solid yellow background reads: "Everyone has the right, individually and in association with others, to the lawful exercise of his or her occupation or profession. Everyone who, as a result of his or her profession, can affect the human dignity, human rights and fundamental freedoms of others should respect those rights and freedoms and comply with relevant national and international standards of occupational and professional conduct or ethics."
A vibrant red banner with yellow text reads "JUSTICE DELAYED IS JUSTICE DENIED." The banner is framed by strands of barbed wire above and below. Below the banner, against a yellow background, dark blue text states, "Join the fight against arbitrary detainment." At the very bottom, in smaller dark blue text, it says, "For more information, visit https://alqst.org/en".
No one is too small to make a positive change. Help protect human dignity, human rights and fundamental freedoms. Sign our petition today. #FreeWaleed βοΈ

Graphic with the text "JUSTICE DELAYED IS JUSTICE DENIED. Join the fight against arbitrary detainment. For more information, visit https://alqst.org/en"
Waleedβs detention is a direct violation of his right to peacefully express his views and defend human rights. His case highlights the harsh realities faced by many human rights defenders who are targeted for their advocacy.
For many HRDs, the cost of standing up for justice is often their freedom.
