The fall of the Assad regime has elevated the #Houthis importance to Iran. However, the takeover could disrupt Iranian supply chains that provide the group with weapons or reignite the war in Yemen.

Russian armed forces have reportedly recruited hundreds of Yemeni men into their ranks.
“For Moscow, cooperation with the Houthis offers several benefits beyond simply offsetting battlefield losses in Ukraine,” writes @emilymprzy.bsky.social.
The presence of Yemeni mercenaries in Russia reflects a larger trend of burgeoning relations between Moscow & the Houthis. However, this relationship should not be interpreted as a full-fledged strategic alliance.

With Rubio and Waltz at his side, the Trump admin will likely reinstate the #Houthis FTO designation and may employ a combination of strikes on high-ranking Houthi leaders & military sites to weaken the group.

The #Houthis are recruiting African immigrants, including children & the elderly, into military camps with coercion and brainwashing. They have arrested & transferred over 3,480 immigrants in 2024, seriously bolstering their forces amid their campaign against Israel.

The Houthis, which have reportedly made millions by tolling private shipping companies, have started emailing threats to private companies that operate out of Israeli ports and/or transport their cargo through the Red Sea and surrounding waterways.

Interesting commentary from local Yemeni sources on Trump admin 2.0. In particular, a pro-gov soldier commented that Trump's return could mean "a military breakthrough in Yemen", particularly if the US cooperates with the PLC.
Significantly, the Syrian company has allegedly provided the Houthis with millions of dollars per month.
The US has sanctioned 26 companies, individuals & vessels associated with a Syrian company accused of generating hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue for the #IRGC Quds Force and the #Houthis through the sale of Iranian oil to Syria and China.
