The book became a major bestseller in South Korea and internationally, eventually selling over a million copies and being translated into more than twenty languages.

She followed it with the sequel #IWantToDieButIStillWantToEat Tteokbokki, which continued her reflections on therapy and healing.

Her debut memoir, #IWantToDieButIWantToEatTteokbokki, combines transcripts of therapy sessions with personal essays about anxiety, self-doubt, and the paradoxical coexistence of despair and ordinary desires; symbolized by her craving for the Korean comfort food tteokbokki.

#BaekSeHee began documenting her therapy experiences on a personal blog. Encouraged by readers who related to her reflections, she transformed those conversations with her psychiatrist into a book.

After graduating, #BaekSeHee worked for about five years at a publishing company as a social media or marketing professional. During this period she began experiencing dysthymia, a chronic form of depression, and sought long-term psychiatric treatment.

Baek Se-hee was born in Goyang. She was the second of three sisters and grew up in the Seoul metropolitan area. From a young age she loved reading and writing, eventually pursuing creative writing at Dongguk University.
