Very much not the point but listing sex at birth on a document meant to identify you right now is utterly useless from a security standpoint. but of course this is about cruelty and forced outing of queer private lives.
I hate this genuinely brought a giant sigh of relief for me today.
love when democrats talk about kitchen table issues as if trans people and immigrants don’t have kitchen tables 🙃
Editors, if you would like someone to help plan your Los Angeles 2028 Olympic coverage from the actual sports to the massive political implications they have, I’m your woman. So much is going on NOW that matters.
The NYT message is:
"If they just stop identifying as transgender, then they won't face any persecution at all! So, in a way, it's really trans identified individuals making a choice to suffer needlessly by persisting in their delusion."
I think it's fair to say, but at this point in my life I'm pretty sure I've moshed my last pit and I'm okay with that.
Go read my newsletter this week, it's good i promise
the problem with giving in on things that don't poll well is that as soon as the right wins on the the things that don't poll well, they move on and start lying about more popular things to manipulate public opinion, starting the cycle again.
democratic party cheerleaders are really doing their best to make it seem like the nominee for president in 2028 is gavin newsom already huh
When a sitting representative refers to the Super Bowl halftime show as “pornography,” people should use that to reflect on how they and other representatives are simultaneously working to ban, censor, and restrict “pornography” and what that actually means
To reject the US as a fundamentally American country with a deep shared history and commonality with the rest of the Americas, including that Spanish has long been our de facto national second language, is on a deep level anti-American. It's hating actual American culture and history and tradition.

The only trans people mentioned in the epstein files are victims.
Hundreds of known anti-trans people are in them, though, either rubbing shoulders with the rape-cult, an active part of the clique, or trying to gain access.
Are you getting it yet?
what really bugs me about the "trans people got ahead of public opinion" line is that it ignores *why* public opinion changed. it didn't just come out of nowhere, there was a deliberate push to make trans rights a wedge issue.
im sorry but we just spent the last decade being told the biggest issues were pronouns in emails and a trans kid playing jv lacrosse
if you said these things and got paid for it then you need to go away. literally if “woke mind virus” is something youve ever said unironically you need to go away
Compare what Noem said to the video.
"They say they're coming to save us from some evil? They're talking about our neighbors who take care of us ... Alex was murdered while he was helping. Mr Rogers said look for the helpers, & right now the helpers have a target on our forehead ... Mr Rogers would be here right now too, so I'm here."
ICE just gunned down ANOTHER person, beating a man half to death before shooting him at point blank range. What the fuck are we doing?
ARREST ICE NOW. PROSECUTE ICE NOW.
I will not rest until every single one of these murderers is held accountable to the communities they terrorize.
The newest video shows very clearly that they attacked him for coming to an aid of a woman that the agents pushed, and then executed him while he was immobilized. Everything the government has said, like with Good, has been a complete lie.
Pouring more money into DHS while it operates with impunity and a blatant disregard for human life is unconscionable.
You don’t fix abuse by funding it. You stop it by cutting off its funding and dismantling the institution that’s terrorizing communities.

it does feel fundamentally dysfunctional, right, to beg lawmakers to use the law to force law enforcement to obey the law
I spoke with @wired.com about how if local elected officials want to protect their community from ICE attacks, one of the most important things they can do is roll back city-level surveillance programs and restrict law enforcement use of Flock, facial recognition, etc www.wired.com/story/what-t...
On my way to the Supreme Court where I'll be proud to support 15-year-old Becky Pepper-Jackson, West Virginia's only transgender athlete, as she opposes the state's effort to ban her from playing as herself.
Win or lose, Becky and her family are heroes for standing up for what's right
It's why I often just send my little jokey jokes or thoughts and comments to my friends instead of writing them to the Internet at large.
There's no actual capacity for dialogue in this medium, and at this point it's hard to argue that that's a feature and not a bug
The bluesky cycle to me is basically: small comment turns to discourse, discourse quickly spirals to harassment, harassment leads to discourse about harassment, harassment inherits the Internet.
No part of that is fun, to read or be a part of, and it's all exhausting given...you know, everything.
While it's admittedly easier for me to say as someone who's always had a relatively meager following on social media, the kinds of intense, vitriolic responses that we can get for saying anything even remotely perceivable as hostile is a factor to why I've never tried to get more of a following.
I just want everyone to step back and realize how often it's a trans woman getting bullied off social media.
