Fantastic news! We've been waiting for this for a long time, and I now get to be jealous of all those teenagers studying what I couldn't! (I had to wait until uni!)

Wildlife people of Bluesky, do you have any nature writing book recommendations for 2025? With an audiobook version preferably!
I've been scrolling through audible struggling for inspiration!
Eyyy wholesome woodlark stories

On Musk's platform??? Perish the thought!
Militarily we are, as we're so dependent on US systems for our military to function. Unfortunately military is the way these guys think, so until we can sort that out our voice will carry limited weight, collective or otherwise.
Indeed very well put, we can definitely get to a point where we get back our relevance by working to gain independence from the states as we have the economic strength to get there. But, that will take a minumum of 10 years and who knows where we will be by then!
Idk sounds like it's spouting the exact rhetoric it's creators would want π
I'm total agreement with you, I'm just not sure there is anything we or any other European country can do about it. It's putin, trumps and Xi's world now and we're rapidly becoming irrelevant.
@andybrassell.bsky.social what are Hull City getting with Erik Matazo?
An adult female oak treehopper rests on branch facing many small brown treehopper nymphs.
An adult female oak treehopper rests on branch facing a single small treehopper nymph.
An adult female oak treehopper rests on branch facing a single black, white, and red treehopper nymph about half her size.
An adult female oak treehopper rests on branch face-to-face with a large black, white, and red nymph nearly her length.
Oak treehoppers have my whole heart. These photos show the difference in size between mamas and their offspring at varying instars. I love them so much. π Mamas stay with their babies throughout their development, protecting them from predators like wasps. Unusual behavior for a bug.
Invading Carthage
... I swear this ganet is trying to seduce me (amazing photo!)
Look, i know they're invasive and problematic and whatever, but can we stop it with the 'murder hornets' bullcrap?
I'd expect this of the daily mail etc. but it seems to be almost universal. It's juvenile, scaremongering, overly simplistic and I'm tired of it!

I'm super intrigued by this!
Green belt development was always going to happen and those areas weren't doing much for nature anyway, this idea of a central fund for nature that developers can add to makes a lot of sense.
Remains to be seen if it's done well though!

See, I can get paid for my hobbies!
Jeez hope I'm not still breeding by 74 π

Currently listening to the audiobook of What If We Get It Right? and I'm really impressed! It's clearly had time and thought put into the audio version, which is rare. Plus it's nice to not feel miserable listening to a climate/wildlife book π
- highly recommended!
Can't forget arachnids
Remains to be seen at this point! They say they will "rewild iconic species like beavers β working closely with the Beaver Trust to carefully design a release programme" so let's wait and see I guess.

It's great to see BNG having an effect on a major estate in my home county!
Well done to the Howards too, we need more landowners to follow their example. Specifically, I'd like to see similar projects from the Royals given Charles' eco "credentials".

The fact that we still allow driven grouse shooting in this country despite all we know about it's negative impacts on biodiversity, carbon sequestration and flood management is a joke. Sign this petition and maybe we can at least bring it into the public conversation!
I'm tryinggggg how do you guys remember so much stuff π
I believe I may qualify though may not be as big time as some of the legends on this list!

Great news this! TWT focusing more on acquiring large parcels of land is exactly what's needed. Also worth mentioning that the selling party seems to have played a big part in making this possible by allowing them to pay the 30 million over time.

Looking forward to recreating my happy little twitter wildlife bubble here on BlueSky! If anyone has any suggestions for wildlife related accounts to follow then hit me up π
