9. Wildlands
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Loved this. An adventure story with a strong message of conservation. Can't wait to read this to my Year 5/6 class.

8. Perfection ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I loved this. I thought it was so clever, depressing, thought-provoking. It's stayed with me a long time after finishing it.

7. Heart the Lover ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This book follows the relationship between two people who met at university. I enjoyed it. I think I found it a bit disjointed between the first half and the second half. There were a few things I wanted to know that didn't get addressed.

6. The Mushroom Tapes ⭐⭐⭐

Follows the real life court case of Erin Patterson who murdered three of her relatives with death cap mushrooms. Really interesting book but I felt like the execution of it was a bit lacking.

5. Consider Yourself Kissed ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I really enjoyed this. I thought the relationships in the book and also thoughts on losing yourself after having children were so well observed. It lost a star for the weak ending!

4. The Department of Speculation ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I mainly read this as it was recommended by Paul Mescal in an interview and I was intrigued. Loved it, especially the comments on motherhood.

I loved this! So readable and interesting! Has made me want to write letters to my friends. I haven't yet but the thought is there!

2. I Who Have Never Known Men ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Late to the party here! I would say I really enjoyed this but enjoyed doesn't feel right. I switched from feeling incredibly frustrated to feeling really moved. A great book.

1. Gabriel's Moon ⭐⭐⭐

I normally love William Boyd so I was looking forward to this. It was quite enjoyable with a few good twists and turns. I found Gabriel a bit annoying as a character which put me off a bit!

I read Orphans of the Tide to my class last year. Reading the 'big twist' to them was honestly one of my favourite moments in my 18yrs of teaching. Ch were on their feet and they still talk about it fondly. I teach Yr5/6 so still teach some of them. So excited to take your new book in tomorrow!

So many of those early noughties bands. I'm going for Kasabian but could have chosen many!

I gave up. Around the time it talks about some who was about 10 stone being fat 🙈
