I was furloughed yesterday - my industry and any industries adjacent to me that I could possibly switch to, are currently being dismantled by this admin.
Unless someone steps in ASAP, a lot of people are about to lose their jobs with nowhere else to work. We are rapidly heading toward collapse.
i will say that we have never experienced anything like an administration trying to essentially freeze the activities of the entire federal government while making a series of illegal power grabs. genuinely unclear to me what kind of response, if any, these guys are generating against them

Deactivating my TikTok was the best choice for my mental health this week. Things happening are hitting me personally, & I don’t think I could handle the endless discourse and think pieces. I think that app sometimes prioritizes commentary on current events over empathy for those impacted.
It's been a devastating week for public health:
Proposed US withdrawal from WHO
Stop on external comms from US health agencies
Cancelled NIH study sections stopping research and TX
Stop work order on USAID including global health
It's a scorched earth approach that will result in lives lost.

I’m increasingly frustrated with some of the news headlines I’ve been seeing. They’re sensationalistic and misleading, which is a problem considering a lot of people only read the headline.
Things are bad, but misleading headlines contribute to misinformation and the sense of hopelessness.
