People trying to rebook seem to get search results via the same or similar way as they are still open. Emirates will offer you a flight this coming Friday say from London to Dubai which is plain daft.

Certainly a lesson to be learned for the future about transiting the Middle East for long haul flights. Whilst not the airline's fault, they could do better. They could close off all flights on their booking system for next few days.
So passengers are now having re-book at their own cost and may not get their refund once their Middle Eastern airline get through their growing pile of claims. And travel insurance may well not pay out as the situation probably gets classified as "war". And no help from the airlines themselves.
I'm feeling sorry for the thousands who are stranded in countries in SE Asia, Australia etc. if they are booked with Middle Eastern airlines like Emirates via Dubai. EU261 if flying back to the EU or UK won't apply as they are non-EU airlines. Outbound from EU/UK is fine.
I can almost hear your blood pressure rise during that thread. A completely ludicrous new policy.
It's those that were in transit in Dubai etc. when all this kicked off are the ones that might regret the decision to have booked that route. Insurance for consequential loss (hotels, meals) whilst stranded unlikely to be covered. Airlines like Emirates will be snowed under for months with claims.
Spring has definitely arrived in London. I've a liking for a lot of styles of houses built in the early 20th century. I wandered around East Finchley this morning. Some lovely art deco style and houses with mock Tudor design.
11 car clas 755 - are these normally diagrammed for a Norwich to Liverpool Street working?

I honestly can't see that the target date of 10 April will be met. Build up queues at airport departures and Eurostar terminals will mean people could potentially miss their plane or train.
Just had a load of UK gov foreign travel advice alerts. All relate to entry requirements. They seem to be referring to full operation of #EES by 10 April. That was the original date. Other media sources saying delayed until September. So what's going on?
But bits of plastic to store money on for a few journeys never then to be used again isn't good especially for the environment. Barcodes and ones stored in mobile wallets are the way forward.
Smart cards do have their uses. Especially in the city etc you live in. In fact I've two for London. Over 60 one plus 75% off rail and Underground as get rail staff concessions. The over 60 doesn't kick in until 0900/0930 Mon-Fri so both gets used! And smart cards are good for period season tickets
Numerous cities around have local ticketing sorted out quite well. TΓΌrkiye not so good. Though no problems with TCDD ticketing for regional and mainline routes. Works fine and all on app
Not sold at the station I wanted to leave from, only machines to top them up. Ticket office? Closed. Pay As You Go? Forget it despite the technology on the gate readers could be adapted. Why pay for a plastic card to then pay for something which I could do with a card in my wallet?
Despite good news about getting into TΓΌrkiye by rail shared earlier, domestic local public transport ticketing is clumsy. In Izmir and local public transport seems to be a smart card only. Getting a smart card itself at short notice proved impossible.
Finally, the overnight train between Instanbul & Sofia in both directions can be booked online with the TCDD ticketing website and app. Just the all in fare plus res, those travelling with InterRail will need to use more conventional options.

I'm sure other railways around the world may have them, but never seen a fixed formed electric train set with sleepers before.
Well this doesn't come with any surprise at all. To think it was going to be ready by April with everyone who needs to have this done would have to have biometrics captured was optimistic to say the least.

Our washing machine got funny with bed linen. Often wouldn't spin because the sheet ended up in the duvet cover. So we strip the bed, do the buttons or poppers up on the duvet cover before washing.
Tricky one to explain to passengers who probe for answers about why such a long stretch of route left without a train service for that week. And how come not being done over half term holiday week?
Fair enough. But that still doesn't answer my point about why no trains east of Worksop.
Bit surprised that its buses all the way from Sheffield to Cleethorpes and Lincoln. I thought trains could terminate/start back from Worksop?
Give it until the middle of this year and I reckon Starmer will stand down. The local elections in May (well the remaining ones that Labour haven't cancelled) will be stark message to the party. Andy Burnham would have been the ideal candidate for Labour's leader to take the party forward.
An annoying feature which occurs in Britain as well with "stops to set down only". Nothing to stop you joining, but you could be given a penalty fare or whatever. Also you run the risk of missing it as it could potentially depart before the advertised time if the train is running early.
Of course everyone needs to do their sums or obtain financial advice when there's a major change to your personal circumstances. So may be beneficial to some: www.gov.uk/deferring-st...
Well this letter came in today's post. Other than a(nother) reminder "I'm getting old", not so sure about using the word "invitation" is all that great. A bit condescending in fact. Yes, there's the option to defer it, but with extremely unfavourable terms for most people.
Sounds like the system is already creaking ....
There's Easter just before the date in question followed by all the bank holidays in May.
As for buying tickets. Well I'm ex-British Rail staff. We get a good concession but only "in person" at St Pancras or with a travel agency. No option online or E* contact centre by phone.
Up until early April is supposed to be the "dress rehearsal" period, to give a chance in this case E* to manage queuing. After 10 April, unless it gets changed, all non-EU passport holders will need to be EES'd. I'm getting the feeling something isn't right and could have implications in April.
I counted 26 terminals in there (may be one or two more). Zone B (7 terminals) near the E* check-in again as on previous visits locked up. Zone C is up on the mezzanine floor. Apparently in a vacant retail unit, but not sure which one. So with over 30 terminals how come they are not in use?
