Ch. 4-Hearing beyond a Natural Ear for Music, analyzes the production of “natural” hearing in the design/branding/musical programming of digital HAs, offering a reappraisal of hearing that defies naturalized perceptual processes + auditory thresholds + notions of sonic fidelity & innate musicality!
I can tell you that the book is long, polemical, and showcases the work of some incredible deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing disabled musicians. One such incredible musician is Jon Ehlers of the noise-rock duo Bangladeafy. His account + this fab photo by Megan Taylor Mead will appear in Chapter 4!
