The folks supporting (non) participatory budgeting are using the same tactics as during the charter issue.

They say is only “two cents,” without saying it means 2% of the general fund budget, or about $16 million. Nor do they tell you what cuts in city services should be made to pay for it. Sad!

And where they will recommend $16 million in cuts in the city budget.

It’s gone on for years. I expressed concern when they made provisions to give 6 months severance- $203,000 to deputy city administrators who were assuming positions temporarily. Golden parachutes for all except taxpayers.

It’s been a busy couple of weeks: Public safety staffing report coming soon … progress and challenges for our small businesses … checking in with OSU, PSU, and St. Mary’s Academy … learning about Autonomous Vehicles and clean air activism.

Multnomah County proposes closing 675 shelter beds to account for looming homeless services cuts Seven shelters could close entirely, one would have fewer county-funded beds and several motel voucher programs would end.

This week we learned that Mayor Wilson's shelter plan has plunged Portland deeper into a budget crisis. Meanwhile, at the county level, budget cuts could shutter nearly 700 shelter beds.

Poor local governments! What about citizenship want yo know what their local elected officials are discussing?

Exempting procedural matters? Like voting?
Machine thing should be clarified snd common sense- rather then one “fix” after another.
