Organize proactive and peaceful community messaging to let warehouse owners know in advance that your community opposes ICE detention.

Owners often don't anticipate community blowback — make sure they know what's in store before they're even approached by ICE.

Show up to your city council meeting with your list. Demand proactive hyperlocal legislation such zoning restrictions, disclosure requirements, or outright bans on leasing to federal detention contractors. Local law is often faster and more responsive than federal/state action.

ICE detention center proposed for Holtsville office building, but Brookhaven balks The proposal to renovate a large office building leased by the federal government could signal ICE's efforts to expand its crackdown on Long Island, immigration advocates said.

With Camp East Montana shutting down, keep your eyes open in Socorro, TX for any signs of vans or buses moving people into the warehouse at 1465 Eastwind Ave.

This site will hold 8,500 people for up to 60 days at a time.

If DHS couldn't make soft-sided tents work from a health standpoint, then there is an actual 0% chance they will make unventilated, hastily retrofitted detention warehouses work.

See our bottom line on the previous post: a contract does not indicate ICE is the one doing the buying. These could very well be routine sales to commercial buyers.

IF Durant (BIGDUOK001 LLC) location DOES sell to ICE, it would be the second former Big Lots warehouse acquired by DHS.

Tremont, PA (BIGTRPA001 LLC) was the first.

🚨 BREAKING. Two sources with direct knowledge of the matter informed Project Salt Box that the possible ICE warehouses in Merrimack, NH and Durant, OK are currently under contract with as-of-yet unnamed counterparties.

This does not mean ICE has bought them — but we are watching closely.

In the email, ICE said: “The Hagerstown, Maryland, facility and its construction are expected to bring 1,125 jobs to the area and would contribute $120.6 million in GDP. It’s also projected to bring in about $28.8 million in tax revenue.”

No source on how they computed those numbers, except…

Despite its 825K sq ft footprint, the site is planned to hold “only” 1,500.

The similarly sized El Paso mega center (826K sq ft) will hold 8,500.

One thing that bothers me (besides the obvious) re: the Williamsport, MD detention warehouse is that its size rivals that of others proposed to hold 8,500 people.

To confirm, I asked ICE to provide a copy of its detention reengineering plan for the site. Instead, they sent me a bunch of mugshots.

Worth mentioning to our contract watchers that Global X (a.k.a. Global Crossing) is primarily contracted by DoD/USTRANSCOM to operate its Civil Reserve Air Fleet.
