Survey shows 91% of trans people distrust Labour YouGov poll reveals a startling lack of trust in Labour, judges, the police and the legal system.

Staggering, depressing, and entirely deserved.

Well shit. I have no excuses for not pushing that to the top of my tbr pile sooner. It’s going to be curdling around my head for a while.

I agree. The thing that’s sticking with me is when he said many students are getting extra help with things that would have been β€œliveable with” in the past. β€œLiveable with” is not thriving! You can live with extreme educational trauma but can’t we aim to avoid that?!

Sami Timimi: Why β€˜invented’ SEND labels are disabling pupils Diagnostic labels are medicalising young people for behaviours once considered ordinary and are contributing to unsustainable workload in schools, argues psychiatrist Sami Timimi

I'd love to hear your takes on this. I was interested to learn more about the diagnosis/description debate, but this feels like it goes too far...

GCSE creative writing is some of the most fabulous writing. Ok - not for any literary merit, but because sometimes you get to see a young person’s first effort at representing themself creatively and that’s something special

On attention, pre-Reformation graffiti, and the patronising of the working class Ely Cathedral really just showing off

NEW POST

This is pretty niche but I enjoyed writing it :) It’s on three things I’m really interested in:

1. Attention
2. Pre-Reformation graffiti
3. How the annoying it is that the working class continue to be patronised

These happen to be my favourite niches so that was a delight to read, and I agree completely - although I did love that that modern prayers mirrored ancient prayers through graffiti. Also I love and miss scallops!!

Has anyone got any recommendations for classroom-based assessment resources where I can tailor the assessment to different students and keep track of results? Kahoot-esque but more personalised. It’s for gcse English, and I’ll take any and all suggestions!
