It is extremely stupid. However, it reflects a deeper problem imo - the sheer certainty among the public that greater state capacity or greater infrastructural development will never actually benefit them, while tax cuts or direct handouts provide immediate financial benefit.

Look, I realize most of this is probably Honda doing Honda things, but I have an apparently bold suggestion: it may have been a bad idea for Aston Martin to take the guy who is known as an engineering genius and give him a job where he has to do a ton of non-engineering stuff.

Right, and the thing is, going from zero to “everything will break if you don’t do the job perfectly right now” is terrible cognitively, so there’s good reason to fill the time with less important work.

Oh, that’s awful! I might have a hard time fully embracing an NY team since I was raised as a Boston fan in other sports and the rivalry is very real, but I can definitely make a point of going to Sirens games.

As a Nutmegger, my observation is that everyone in New York believes that Upstate New York exists but almost nobody thinks they, personally, live in it. Upstate gets defined as north of them or they have another name for their region.
