Hey Reader, good to see you!!!
Depends on what that purpose is
Yep
I posted this thread at the start of 2017, but it's just as relevant (actually more so) today
Unfortunately Chuck Norris and Steven Segal are right-wingers in real life, so we're going to have to call for backup
I was specifically referring to violence between divergent factions *within* the administration as a result of power struggles. I completely agree that they will use unmitigated violence on any out group they target, including asylum seekers.
We were on a remote beach today and the Philippine Mars flew right over us on it's way to stop over in SF.
God, if only.
Actor Barry Knapp Bostwick on left, fugitive Barry Allen Bostwick on right
Rocky Horror is awesome, but the fugitive (Barry Allen Bostwick) is not the same person as the actor who played Brad (Barry Knapp Bostwick), who is probably horrified people are mistaking him for a predator.
Hey there - great to see you!
So good to see you!!
Mind you, I wouldn't expect things to play as violently as they did in Nazi Germany. The US version would probably mostly involve sidelining opponents complemented by a mysterious uptick in the number of people mysteriously falling out of windows or getting hit by cars.
Ironically, as those in control come closer to making future elections completely irrelevant, maintaining a strong coalition will become less essential. Former allies will be sidelined (or otherwise eliminated) as each faction seeks to extend its power.
At the same time, each group is jockeying for power within the administration and party governance structures. They needed to show unity to gain control of the presidency, congress, and the judiciary, but as they move to consolidate power, cracks may start to show.
The one positive thing about this coalition between neoliberals, evangelicals, and white supremacists is its inherent instability and self-contradiction. The people in power have to do enough for each group and its supporters to maintain their loyalty without alienating the other two groups.
While I wait for my old bird posts to migrate, here's a link to my article on how the authoritarian abomination masquerading as the US government came together, based on a thread I wrote shortly after the 2016 election.

Hope to see you there! There's lots to work on, and we could use your help.
You too!
Lots of life changes, but yes, doing well and happy to re-engage
Hey, good to see you! I feel like some ancient spirit reawakened by a curse
I'M BAAAACK! Just migrated over from The Platform Formerly Known as Twitter. My handle over there was @SFhater. Attempting to reconnect with some of my old resistance peeps, and looking forward to dropping some truth bombs.
Was gonna queue up some John Philip Sousa, but this somehow seemed more appropriate

I believe this is what you did for folks who were forced to miss camp in past years due to fires and Norovirus outbreaks.
Hey @philginsburgsf - Really hoping you do right by the many families who had their @CampMather weeks cancelled by SFRecPark with one day's notice this summer due to the staff COVID outbreak. Guaranteed slots for 2023 would be the best solution.
