Loved the workshop—marking the date for the next one!
Last Saturday’s fun teaching, playing, and discovering characters with my class at the West Hollywood Library!
First day of workshopping with my cohort at @tinhouse.bsky.social #THWW
Spending the next week in the @tinhouse.bsky.social Tin House Winter Workshop is the most revolutionary thing I can do right now. #THWW Writing is resistance. Community is resistance.
Please remember the goal is for us to be overwhelmed and perpetually distracted. They want us to react to everything while they pelt us nonstop. Resist the urge to do scroll. I feel like you have to boil the ocean. You have gifts, interest, talents, and expertise that can be targeted and focused. Do your work. Don’t leave it to somebody else. I don’t try to do it all at once. Do the right thing. We’ll get through this as long as we do it together. I love y’all.
Great advice from @mspackyetti.bsky.social
Who is ready for a Tin House Summer? ☀️ Apply today to the 2025 #THSW! In addition to our General Scholarships, we offer many community-focused awards and offer fee waivers for those who need them. Apply here: tinhouse.com/workshop/sum...
Continuing to document Annie Dillard’s sage wisdom: “When my creative energy flowed most freely, my muscular activity was always greatest.” AKA my reminder to leave my desk.
Annie Dillard’s The Writing Life—what a gut wrench of truth. “Putting a book together…engages all your intelligence…” and also “your work is so meaningless, so fully for yourself alone”
Looking for other fiction writers (and other creatives) to build community with here after leaving the other place
