well well well if that doesn't change everything
(thanks Andrew)
Also, since I only have ten skeets (it's skeets, right?) so far, it might be worth repeating: the current display option for handles (@abc.bsky.app) or whatever) are abhorrent
Hi Andrew โ I know it's right there in the form, but since Vox has been open to intl. candidates before... is this 100% US only?
I'm not a fan of the Twitter diaspora, but I'm also rather platform agnostic, so I'll follow the discourse where it goes. And if it's toward bsky, then so be it.
I just hope that, eventually, the fragmentation will give way to a new major hub โ here or wherever else.
3. The name Bluesky itself, which I don't love as much as Twitter, but is a million times better than X (and also 'bsky' is a lovely short moniker)
4. The ๐ฆ logo itself.
1. No weird badges (although an old-school verification system would be good, I guess)
2. No spambots and noise under replies
While it does feel extremely barebones, Bluesky has four things I love:
The most frustrating thing about bsky so far is that my discover page keeps regurgitating the same two or three accounts โย I wish it gave me better suggestions, or at least a likely cohort of people to follow
Last thing before I vanish -- dear @bsky.app why in god's name do we have a worthy Twitter successor and still no simple, straightforward way to edit tweets (blues? skies?)? It's beyond infuriating
Also I'm fine with the fediverse but these server-y handles are just ugly af; I hope the display options will allow for more traditional settings (while maintaining the info elsewhere)
Also, uhm, hello?
Honestly, at this point, I don't care if it's Twitter, Threads, or here โ as long as there's a place for interesting, healthy, nerdy discussions. But so far the feeling is that we are still well into the unbundling phase, with no clear centralized winner in sight.
